“Very colonial”
This is the refurbished Atyrau Hotel situated on the Europe side of the bridge over the River Ural. “For you if on lower budget.”
Not a bad hotel and priced to suit standards. Some rooms better than others as always in hotels. I always refuse 6th floor, especially if heavy luggage as lift on goes to 5th floor. Water pressure up there is usually poor and some rooms have no windows, only skylight windows. Food is usually good a… more

“Decent experience”
The hotel itself is ok and I have stayed here on many occasions. The food for evening dinner is very good indeed, the beef medallions were fantastic. Not a very good choice of beers, limited to 2-3. Nice wines and all reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit but ask for a room no further than 5t… more

“Hit and miss”
While the hotel is of a relatively good standard, the air conditioning broke while I was there (and it was 39C outside). It was quickly fixed though. The inside buffet restaurant is basic, dull and lifeless. The beer garden restaurant is a lot better, but still lacks character. I suggest walking 5… more
