Our family had an absolutely wonderful 3 night stay here, and the real secret sauce was the staff. From Ziya the General Manager, to Raphael and all the servers, Sylvester and everyone in the kitchen and everyone from the musician to the security people, the warmth of their hospitality was just incredible. We stayed in the 2 bedroom family villa (tent 18) which was spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. The infinity pool overlooking the plains and shaded loungers was a real bonus, although my one tip would be to replace the tiles on the entry steps with non-slip ones as I nearly went over (!!) But when I think about the place I just think about how happy the whole experience made our family.

The location is extremely special and we loved the accommodation plus amenities. We did not love the expensive drinks and laundry but understand that they are a choice. The views from the pool of the giraffes is extremely cool and we particularly loved the turn down service which was done so brilliantly by the staff. We did not enjoy that the hotel only operated in card , this left us with little to no opportunity to tip the staff and this should be amended as a top priority.

My stay at Zebra Plains Mara Camp was incredible! The camp offers comfortable luxury tents, great food, and a perfect Maasai Mara location with wildlife wandering right outside �. The highlight was seeing the Big 5 (lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, rhinos), but it's actually a Big 6 with Gilbert being the sixth! Gilbert is the manager of Zebra Plains and absolutely amazing – incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and warm. His expertise made our game drives unforgettable and elevated the entire trip. The staff were attentive and professional throughout. Waking up to zebras outside your tent is superb. The pool area offers beautiful wildlife views while you swim. Zebra Plains perfectly blends comfort, nature, and ease. Absolutely worth it! And request Gilbert – as manager, he ensures everything runs perfectly and makes your safari legendary.

The service and people here as incredible. The lodging is also enjoyable. They include a walking trail to see giraffes, zebras, smaller animals which was lovely. The pool had a few dead flies but was overall lovely to swim. I didn’t have any issues despite swimming. Intense tipping culture I didn’t quite like but it’s the same everywhere and it’s discretionary like they try to do every little thing to earn a tip. The food was delicious but they didn’t provide water after 6 bottles a day. I never have been to a country which restricts basic necessities like water before. We organised the bush dinner and it rained on us and the back up plan was staff to hold umbrella for each of us there were 3 of us whilst we eat which was really awkward. We ended up running back to the car not being to enjoy the dinner. I’d suggest them to have a permanent tent in the bush so that there is wet weather back up plan. We also visited a Maasai Village for the first time. While we genuinely enjoyed the cultural visit and found it to be an authentic and worthwhile experience, the souvenir shopping afterwards significantly detracted from it. It felt less like an optional opportunity to support the local artisans and more like an expected part of the tour. Prices were not explained upfront, and being quoted USD 120 for five small wooden animal figurines and two small bowls felt unreasonable. Because we had to negotiate through an intermediary, we felt cornered and increasingly uncomfortable. We would still encourage visitors to support the Maasai artisans, but a more transparent, fairly priced, and pressure-free shopping experience would make the visit much more enjoyable for everyone.
