Loved this "camping" experience in the Mara. We could not think of anything to improve our experience here. Each tent was large, with sofa, desk/chair, large bed, mosquito netting , and a wonderful bathroom with a nice shower. Each tent, although fairly close together, was landscaped to make you feel like you were the only tent. The front porch looked out on a small hill. (We had a hillside tent.) There was security to assist you if you left the tent in the dark (and it WAS dark there.) Food was great, and the service was superb! the manager, Gilbert, was always present to assist in any way. Very personable! You could tell he was a good manager by how happy his staff were, and how well runs the property was. There was a swimming pool, but we did not try it. There was a thunder storm the second night, which was almost magical, in the tent. We highly recommend this property, and would return in a heart beat!

This is a beautiful and magical lodge/ camp - the warmest, loveliest staff, great food selection and very carefully built and placed to minimise impact on the environment. Accommodation is in deluxe 'tents' spaced out along long plant lined shaded paths with birds singing. At night you hear the hyenas laugh and while you are in the small pool you look up sometimes to see a few giraffes or zebras passing by in the conservancy right next to the camp. Feels like another world. We were very grateful and humbled by the warm, incredibly hardworking staff at the desk, on the pathways, in the kitchen and to lovely Moses who stayed with us for each meal. He was brilliant with our son, so much fun, and we exchanged swahili and Irish language lessons! There are loads of staff members and everyone lives in while they are working so there is a feeling of a big family, all pulling together in a pretty remote location. Incredible how the logistics of a place like this can work - and they make it seem easy, when it really can't be. Highly recommend.

Little Zebra Stayed at Little Zebra at the beginning of October 2025 for 3 nights. A couples trip. Massai Mara (MM) was our 2nd Safari stop coming from Amboseli . We landed at MM airstrip inside the park and were welcomed by our driver Benjamin. He was dressed in a Massai Shuka, we thought it was very cool. Took the open jeep and got a game drive on the way to the lodge. Saw 2 beautiful strong lioness on the way. And already was in love with MM, very green, open, and not dusty, completely different than Amboseli’s dry landscape. The lodge is very close to two entrances of the park. That was a plus, as we stayed at lodges that were far from parks. Also, our package included private game drives and it made such a huuuuge difference in our experience. My husband and I were able to move around the jeep to get the best shots without worrying about bothering anyone. And we were able to decide that our game drives should start at 7, so we could eat a nice breakfast at the lodge, instead of eating just pastries in the jeep. That flexibility was amazing. Arriving at the lodge, we were welcomed with live music, wet towels and fruit juice. The front desk manager (we didn’t get her name but she was so kind getting my clothes ironed ) briefed us about the lodge. Also Daniel, the manager was very approachable and helpful. Our room was very spacious and cute. The covered balcony was huge. It had a fan above the bed, and it kept the room at a very pleasant temperature. We were able to nap in between game drives. And our laundry was included, and that’s key for a safari trip. Vincent was our room keeper. He took a great care of our things, and also left an amazing surprise for my husband’s 50th bday. Breakfast was good. The usual; breads, oatmeal, fruits, teas, coffees and eggs to order prepared by the great chef big John. Lunch has 2 options of appetizers, main and dessert. The same for dinner. Food was very good and abundant, and we were told if we wanted 2nds, just to tell them. We loved that part, as we were eating very small portions at other lodges. Our everyday servers were Jerome and Victor and they were very attentive and kind. We had an alcohol package but we had no idea what was included. Wish they had a menu for these kind of packages. Since it was husbands 50th bday, they had a surprise birthday celebration, all the staff came over to sing happy birthday, and they danced and sang in Swahili, and they had a bday cake as well. It was very special. The outside area is very pretty. In the morning you can see all the hot air balloons taking off as you eat breakfast. The pool was not too big or small, I never used as I preferred to rest. Since it’s by a little river, we were able to see hippos and crocs in the water. Oh, and the main guest area is beautifully decorated and the bar is gorgeous. I got a massage as a courtesy but they do it in the room, and since husband was taking a nap I had to turn it down. I wish the hotel could have a room just for massages, with music, candles etc…It feels more special than having it done at your room and having to disturb your sleepy partner. They prepared a sun downer after our last game drive, with a presentation of a whole group of Massai members, it was absolutely amazing!! They sang to us, and did the jumping contest having our guide and our wonderful servers joining them. Eventually, I joined them as well. It was a very memorable experience, just remembering gives me goosebumps. They had snacks and drinks for us. Overall, highly recommend Little Zebra, especially knowing that belongs to a local that cares about the community.

We stayed at Zebra Plains Mara Camp from 27–30 January 2026 during our first Masai Mara safari, and the experience was outstanding in every aspect. From the moment we arrived at Mara–Ol Kiombo Airstrip, everything was perfectly coordinated. At the camp, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism. The location is simply breathtaking — surrounded by pure wilderness, yet offering comfort, elegance and an authentic safari atmosphere. The tents are beautifully designed, spacious, extremely clean and very comfortable. You truly feel immersed in nature while still enjoying high standards of hospitality. Waking up to the sounds of the Mara was magical. The food was excellent — fresh, varied and thoughtfully prepared. Every meal felt generous and well organized. The dining area offers beautiful views, and the service was always attentive and friendly without being intrusive. What truly sets Zebra Plains apart is the staff. Every single team member was kind, professional and dedicated. There is a genuine sense of pride and care in how the camp is run. You feel safe, respected and very well looked after. Combined with the expertise of our guide and driver, Nicholas Muya, this camp became the perfect base for extraordinary wildlife experiences. We saw the Big Five and much more, and every return to camp felt like coming home after an adventure. Zebra Plains Mara Camp is professionally managed, beautifully located and operated with heart. It offers the perfect balance between authenticity and comfort. An unforgettable place in the Masai Mara — highly recommended.
