“Great location, great value, cool hotel (but tricky to arrive by car, read details)”

The short: Great hotel, very comfortable, nice rooms (we booked the two-story studio Appartment) and service very friendly. It’s short 15min walk to old-town and tons of restaurants (and grocery stores) close by. Would pick this hotel again no doubt. To hotel management: kindly improve your arrival directions. Arrival by car however is quite difficult (“we are behind a red building” is not really ideal description), we circled around the block a few times until we realized where the hotel is. Then walked to hotel, hauled luggage around... I would not want to do this in winter in cold/rain. Long version, perhaps helpful for others: 1) The hotel is located inside(!) a shopping/eatery district “Berga Basar”, and is NOT visible nor accessible by car from either street. There are flags and signs for Berga Basar but the hotel “Bergs Suites” is not advertised. Parking lot entrance is on “Krisjna Barone vela” while the pedestrian main access is from "Marijas ilea”. If your map takes you to Krisjana (ours did) - too bad! Because your license plate needs to be registered first before a guard will open the gate. 2) If you finally find yourself to the main entrance, there is no short term parking whatsoever for loading. We ended up Euro-Park close by, paid 3e short term, walked to hotel and sorted everything out. 3) Next: be advised, your room key does NOT open the back-door of the hotel that is next to the car park and level with elevator. So we ended up dragging our luggage around to the front, up the stairs, just to be told “oh, you should have asked us about the access key”. Wait, What? How would we have known? How about volunteering this information? : ) Anyway - once you are checked in, it’s a wonderful hotel. Can fully recommend.

“Very large rooms”

Hotel bergs was a welcome place to stay after five weeks travelling eastern Europe. The rooms, are big. Reception told me the smallest is 45 sq m with kitchenette and large bathrooms. Our bed was a super king size and very comfy. A big plus was the laundry in the basement supplied free to guests, with a modern washing machine and dryer free of charge with detergent supplied. My only negative comments are the room lacked blackout curtains which was an issue when the sun starts rising around 4 am this time of year. The other negative was the shower is in a bathtub with large sides and only a half shower screen. You need to be careful exiting the shower, but overall a great place to stay. The old town was an easy twenty minute walk.

“Nice but too noisy from the outside.”

Construction works outside make it impossible to sleep in the morning. Otherwise it’s nice design and good location. Consult the hotel if works are completed if you like to wake up late as hotel even serving late breakfast for those who are not an early bird.
