I’ve just returned home from a four-night stay at The Goring in one of their beautiful Belgravia suites. The excellent service began months before my stay while I was corresponding with the concierge team, and it really did feel as though nothing would be too much trouble to ask. As I was travelling solo, I did feel a little nervous when I first arrived, but I very quickly relaxed. The atmosphere of the hotel is one of the reasons why I chose to stay here, having previously visited for afternoon tea and drinks in the bar. This time, however, I was able to enjoy spending time in the garden, which I hadn’t had the opportunity to do on previous visits. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which was another highlight of my stay. The service provided by the footmen was excellent, especially when I had friends and family visiting during my stay. One touch I particularly liked was returning to my room to find soft classical music playing. This provided a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere and quickly became one of the favourite parts of my day. In fact, it’s something I think I’ll be doing at home before going to sleep. I will definitely be returning to The Goring again, hopefully in the near future.

“A magical experiance”

“Excellent weekend”

Once again the Goring delivered its usual excellence. Every staff member made us so welcome, but a special thank you to Andrea in the bar for whom nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to our next visit.

This was our first time at the Goring hotel , my wife particularly wanted to go because of the links to British royalty and its patronage by senior royals over the years . Arriving at the hotel , in its quiet street location , just around the corner from Buckingham Palace , to be greeted by professional doormen in their liveried coats , who valet the car and whisk you through the room assignment process is a special experience and sets you up for what’s to come . Although it has every right to be stuffy and pretentious given its client history , in reality , the hotel , through its staff , transmits a warm , friendly and accommodating environment . The public areas are as tastefully and elegantly decorated as you’d expect from a 5 star establishment, the bar and lounge area , with live piano music is all you’d expect , and the service , from the moment you walk through the front doors , is exemplary. Our room had crisp linen bedding , air conditioning ,complimentary ,water , fruit and chocolates , with all the attendant en-suite luxury , robes, slippers and Jo Malone toiletries . Breakfast was served in the Michelin starred restaurant and was simply perfect . There are many beautiful top end hotels in London , but for understated and quintessentially British hospitality , I think it would be very hard not to choose The Goring as the benchmark . On departure one of the young ladies even came out to give my wife a parting gift of an Easter egg , it being Easter Sunday ..a real touch of class . We will definitely be back !
