I stayed at the Hostal Castilla I Atocha for a couple of nights. It was travelling solo so the cosy room was good enough for me (basic but clean and decent) It had private bathroom and the staff at the reception was there 24h. They were friendly and helpful. Good size of room, clean and tidy. Staying with a friend and we both got some space to put our luggage. Build in wardrobe with hangers which I could hand wash my clothes and dry them on the balcony. Firstly the present Trip Adviser map provides completely the wrong location for this Hostal which you will find on calle de Atocha No43 which is on the Plaza Mayor side of Anton Martin metro with a distinctive red sign to clearly find it. “Nice and Clean”
Nice room with a new bathroom .The staff has a problem with English but is helpful. Great location at the center and very close to metro station. The only negative is the soundproofing because the building is old.
