This Ikonic Gran Via was an amazing stay. The location is everything - directly in the middle of Gran Via!! It is near all of the restaurants, shops, and amenities. We walked everywhere and never needed to take transportation, except to/from airport. If we did need transportation, it is directly across Gran Via from the metro station. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are large for a European hotel. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is spacious for a European hotel. The service was impeccable and the room was exceptionally clean. I cannot say enough great details about the Ikonic Gran Via. The best choice for the whole vacation! Note: The hotel is very difficult to locate from Gran Via because the entrance is not noticeable. We even walked past it several times.

My wife and I stayed at Ikonik Gran Vía in Madrid between August 21 and 24. In the past, we have stayed at several other hotels in the city. They were good, but located a little farther from the heart of Madrid. This time, encouraged by the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, we chose Ikonik Gran Vía for the first time—and it truly exceeded our expectations. We were very pleased with our stay. The room was spotless, the bed extremely comfortable, and the terrace was a real highlight. The location is unbeatable—right in the center of Madrid. Breakfast was delicious and of high quality. Everything went smoothly from start to finish, and we didn’t encounter a single problem. I would particularly like to recognize Maria at the reception desk. She is highly professional, full of energy, and offers outstanding customer service. She went above and beyond to make us and other guests feel welcome. Without a doubt, on our next visit to Madrid, we will choose this hotel again—and hopefully the same room.

Hotel is literally in the middle of every tourist attraction of downtown Madrid. We had two balconies looking onto the the Gran Via - really got the city's vibe just standing there. Street noise didn't filter into room. Rooms were clean. Staff at front desk were friendly and allowed us to check in 2 hours before usual check-in time.

“Good choice on Grand Vía”

It did not start off very well: I sent an email to the hotel a few days prior to my stay to notify them of my late arrival and to let them know my room preferences. They did not reply, not even after a friendly reminder. But it got better when I arrived at the hotel. The receptionist had my room ready for me, upgraded me from a single to a double, was friendly and efficient and spoke very good English. I was soon on my way to my room on the 5th floor. While the building dates back to the 1920s, it was converted to a 45-room hotel in 2023 and everything is still in very good condition. My double room was not large, and as a matter of fact was more akin to a three-star hotel room. But it was clean and tidy and in very good condition. There were two narrow but comfortable single beds pushed together, with sockets by the bed for charging your devices. In addition, the room featured a small desk and chair, but no coffee table or armchair – there was simply no room. A luggage rack was available on request. There was a safe and minibar as well as two 0.5 L water bottles on the desk on arrival, not replenished. Beware – those water bottles cost 3 EUR a piece, even though I was ultimately not charged. Air conditioning was quiet and effective, and very much needed as outside temperatures rose to 38 °C in August. The bathroom was roomy and came with a walk-in shower with good water pressure, but curiously, at times only hot (very hot) water was available. Amenities included wall-mounted containers of hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion as well as toothbrushes and a comb. Some additional items were available at reception. I don't like these wall-mounted containers as they are not tamper-proof and I would hope the hotel saved money elsewhere and would invest in providing hygienic minibottles instead. Breakfast was served in the 1st floor breakfast room from 7:30 to 10:30 and on weekends from 8 to 11. It would have cost 15 EUR, but I did not give it a try. The hotel enjoys a very central location right on Gran Vía. The airport can be reached in 50 minutes from Plaza de España metro station down the street. There is a Carrefour supermarket a few steps up Gran Vía. I paid 116 EUR a night, and found the hotel well worth it. I could very well see myself returning here on my next visit to Madrid.
