Really enjoyed our stay at Playa Mar! Everything was absolutely perfect, the only let down is the cleanliness of the tableware. On numerous occasions I picked up dirty plates and had to change it for a clean one. Even the clean plates are not really clean but the food is not visible on them (you can just feel that they are not perfectly clean) Some of the plates literally looked like they had just been put straight back with the clean plates after someone had used them. It’s such a shame because the cleanliness of the hotel is brilliant and the food is absolutely amazing! I literally couldn’t say a bad word about this place apart from the dirty tableware. I would love to come back next year and it would be amazing if this problem was resolved. Unfortunately me and my family were all ill the day after arriving home and I’m wondering if it was due to the fact that we were eating and drinking from dirty tableware. Like I say, hopefully this problem can be resolved for our next visit 🤞

We have just returned from a week at Playa Mar and Spa. Our Family consists of me, my wife and our two children age 6 and 12. Overall, we had a very good week and there are no real negatives or nasty surprises. There are things the hotel does very well, and a few things that could be improved upon. The hotel is very family friendly and our kids were well accommodated and were never bored. I'd say it is primarily a family hotel, with 99% of guests being families with predominantly younger (pre teen) children. I mention this as you cold be fooled into thinking it was suitable for a couples retreat given that it has a Spa, but I think you would feel very out of place! There is plenty to keep the kids entertained, although my two didn't join in with any of the activities as they were happy to play in the pools and the slides etc. There is evening entertainment every night, but we only caught glimpses of it as we didn't stay in the hotel on an evening. What I did see was quite typical of the standard of entertainment I've seen elsewhere and certainly wasn't worth hanging around for! There was a karaoke the night we arrived, and although the singing was predictably dire, it wasn't much worse than the real acts. Don't read into this too much though, as I only saw brief spells of the 'entertainment' as we arrived back at the hotel, and I'm not the biggest fan of that type of thing anyway (miserable as my wife would say). The Pools are decent and there is an adult pool and separate children's pool. The 3 water slides are good for keeping the kids (and parents) entertained and the smaller children's splash pool is also very good. There was only one lifeguard on site, who always watched the 'big' pool, which was great as it meant that overenthusiastic parents (myself included) could disregard the sign that said under 16's only and use the slides! There was an annoying game of water polo that took over the big pool for an hour a day, but I guess your opinion on that will depend on whether you like playing water polo or not. The 'reps' also play loud, rather tedious dance music whenever they are directing the games. As good as the pools were, there were two annoyances (for me). Firstly, almost every inch of both pools perimeter was lined with sunbeds. They are positioned about a foot away from the pool edge, so if you want to exit/enter the pool you have to squeeze by other guests beds/possessions (unless you got up at dawn to secure a poolside bed yourself). The second annoyance was the general lack of housekeeping around the pool edges. Every other place in the entire hotel was spotlessly clean, however round the pool it was a bit lacking. Think ice lolly wrappers, plasters, popped balloons, abandoned pool floats etc. This was especially prevalent around the stones/bridge area and it let the otherwise high standard of cleanliness down. I must stress, it was by no means filthy, but I was seeing more litter around the pool than I'd have liked. It's not particularly the hotels fault, but you get the usual sun bed gripes. Mainly people getting up super early, 'securing' the best beds and then not appearing until 3pm after they've been to the beach or into town. I personally have absolutely no problem removing peoples towels, folding them neatly and taking their beds, but my wife hates confrontation so for an easy life we just got whatever beds we could when we needed them. I can confirm though that there were always beds free and available (even in August half term), they just weren't usually prime poolside locations. The poolside bar and snack-bar were great and I never waited more than 30 seconds all week to get a drink. The lunchtime food at the pool side snack bar (12-3) was great for the kids as they could eat as many burgers, hot dogs and chips as they liked without having to get changed and use the main restaurant. The bar staff are all very friendly and the service was excellent. We were all inclusive, but we only ate breakfast in the hotel, so it would be unfair of me to review the food in detail. This is not a reflection of the hotel food, it's simply because we prefer to dine out in restaurants on an evening and only go all inclusive for the freedom of the breakfast/snacks and drinks during the day. The breakfasts were very good, with a vast array of fresh foods and were as good as any hotel breakfast I've had elsewhere. There are plenty of tables, the staff are all friendly and there was no queuing. Our room was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. It was cleaned every day by housekeeping. The entire hotel was always very well presented other than the poolside mentioned earlier. The location of the hotel was great in my opinion. It is on the very edge of the town, and it was a 20 min walk into the main area, but you'd be very hard pressed to actually find a more scenic and pleasant walk anywhere in Europe. If it does get too hot to walk, or you are not able to walk that far, a taxi to the market square cost me just over 5Euro. The hotel reception will order you a taxi and there is a taxi rank behind the market square to get you home. We actually spent more time in Pollenca (old town) which was a 10 minute taxi ride and cost about 16Euro. I'd recommend everyone go there at least once on an evening, but bear in mind it was usually a 30 min wait to get a taxi back. Overall, a very good hotel and I'd have no reservations about recommending it to others or going back myself at some point.

“Nice family holiday, superb staff”

Location is excellent and at the end of the Pine Walk. Loved having a stroll there each evening after dinner. Staff were fantastic especially the bar and restaurant staff. Location is excellent and at the end of the Pine Walk. Loved having a stroll there each evening after dinner. Staff were fantastic especially the bar and restaurant staff. Not a huge hotel but felt safe for the kids to wander around on their own. Only one buffet restaurant which did become a bit tiresome even with theme nights as it was all very similar just different sauces. However the salad bar was good and meat and fish grilled each night. Plenty local places nearby if you get bored of the food. Beers were good, wine ok but not the best. Entertainment was only an hour each evening and a bit naff, they turned all the lights on at half ten so felt a bit rushed to leave even though bar closed half 11. Bar staff amazing though and table service on an evening. Rooms not a bad size but were quite noisy. Pool got quite busy but we were here peak season. Never had an issue with loungers, get up for 8:30 or they do get taken but you still find a few towards the back if you come back later in the day. Its definately a place for young families probably not one for adults only. The Spa pool is great to escape the sun and its open for kids for a few hours. Mainly Brits and French when we went but its a quiter area so no trouble. Would reccomend to young families looking for somewhere safe and not too rowdy.
