We had a pleasant experience overall. Before check-in, the hotel even contacted me through WhatsApp to greet me and check on my arrival, which felt very warm and thoughtful. The staff here were very polite throughout the stay, and the service was consistently pleasant. As a Hilton Gold member, I was fortunate to receive a complimentary room upgrade, and the hotel also provided complimentary welcome fruits, which was a nice touch. The Executive Lounge was especially enjoyable, quiet, not crowded, comfortable, and with a nice view, making it a great place to relax. The room was clean, although a little dated in some areas, but still comfortable for the stay. The hotel location is also very convenient, quite close to the customs checkpoint and City Square Mall, which made getting around very easy. Breakfast was extensive with plenty of choices as well. Overall, it’s a reliable hotel with good service and a comfortable atmosphere.

“Wonderful dining experience”

10/5/26 We had a wonderful experience dining at the Tosca Italian Restaurant at Double Tree Hilton JB. Mr Rajoo had provided the professional service to us during the dinner time. The food was amazing, we are enjoy it very much to celebrate a memorable Mother’s Day.

Stayed at a twin room with my mother on the higher floors. I booked through the Hilton website for better rates and downloaded the app. The Careline can be accessed both via the room phone or WhatsApp service which I used more of, and they were very responsive. Service was great and there's lots of warm staff members, you can feel the Malaysian hospitality. From the doormen and front desk, buffet servers (especially those who served me teh tarik and kopi kluang!), to housekeeping. Had an incident that needed changing of sheets in the middle of the night and the housekeeping staff was very understanding and patient. There were just a few instances which needed prompting, such as asking for the signature DoubleTree Hilton welcome cookie, or if a birthday cake (which was complimentary) would eventually come. There were a few room fixtures that needed minor maintenance, hallway sometimes smelled good or bad, though I understand the property is quite old. Rooms are not 100% soundproof. I can connect my device audio to the TV but can't cast the video itself (hotel could consider upgrading the Smart TV). The one disappointment was the extended closure of the swimming pool (we booked according to the estimated re-opening dates but it was still yet to reopen). We did not bring swimming attire but found out upon arrival that the hotel does offer rides to the nearest public swimming pool in lieu of the closure. There's also a twice daily shuttle to Mid Valley Mall. Otherwise, the room was well-supplied with amenities: bedroom slippers and bathrobes, small and large towels, hand towels, textured floor towel, wall-mounted hand soap, lotion, soap shampoo and conditioner (Crabtree and Evelyn brand), disposable shower cap, toothbrush and toothpaste, cotton pads, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, prayer mat, safety deposit box, kettle (extension wire coiled at the bottom), tea and coffee sachets, mugs and teaspoons, highball glasses, drinking water (can request for more), pencil and notepad. The free highspeed WiFi for Honors members was easily accessible, you just need to sign in daily. There are 5 dining areas: the main buffet style Makan Kitchen, The Food Store cafe, and the Axis Lounge on level 1 (high tea set), Tosca Restaurant (Italian) on lvl 13 same as the swimming pool and gym amenities, and an executive lounge on the 29th floor if it's included in your booking. We only tried Makan Kitchen breakfast and seafood dinner buffet, and ordered food from Tosca for room service. I think the food is hit and miss, there were some that were good but also others that were pretty average or too salty, in particular the ethnic dishes (as someone who's had better at home or other places). Most of the desserts were pretty nice, both at breakfast and dinner (the floral mousse cake! the madeleines! banana cake too). You can only get the range of seafood during dinner buffet as the selection of food is different at breakfast. There were fresh oysters, scallops, sashimi and several crab dishes (wished the crab pakora was peeled crab meat) including softshell crab, fish several ways. My gripe is I kind of really wished there was smoked salmon but it was not part of the buffet at either time. Fresh juice station and customisable eggs station during breakfast were a nice touch, as well as the traditional teh tarik/kopi cart. Just a comment from my mom - the self-serve drinks station with scoops at dinner time was not hygienic and should consider a change in design, as the drinks passed into the glasses can also pass through the hands. She also said that the food standards have dropped compared to previous stays in previous years. The gym is quite small. It is supplied with free towels. Pool, sauna and jacuzzi are closed till June 2026 (as we last heard). There is a massage parlour on the first floor. The hotel is at an area close to the JB checkpoint with a number of malls nearby. Parking is complimentary for guests. Overall 3.5 to 4, can be better for a 4-star semi luxury hotel. Happy with service and rooms, not as much with food quality, facilities/maintenance and minor inconveniences that add up.
