I cannot stop raving about the beauty of this place. We got a seaview room which was right at the end of the hotel block which also meant that it was quieter. The view was wonderful and the room was spacious and had a tub at the balcony that you could soak in to the sound of the waves. The caveat is that we visited during the weekday just before school holidays, so we had the entire amazing pool (with a separate section for laps), a waterfall that resulted in a wonderful shoulder massage, and the jaccuzi pool by the bar all to ourselves. We also had the beach shelters to ourselves on the weekdays. They have so many amenities for children, that it was no surprise that the place filled up by Friday night - which is good if you are a family. There are kids rooms with toys, a playground, a games room - they even created a squirrel playground so that kids could watch the squirrels run free. They seem to have countless options for kids, yet tucked away at the end of the block, we still had peace and felt quite removed from the excitement at the other end. We woke up to the sounds of so many birds, a great view of the water - and hornbills! Breakfast was okay - a broad variety of food, even when there were fewer guests - more so when the hotel filled up. You do need a car so that you can head out to the little town nearby (Desaru Utama) for more food options for dinner if you would like alternatives (although they have the main cafe, which is also the breakfast venue AND a Chinese & Japanese restaurant). The pool bar actually sells food that is different from the main cafe (pizzas / potatoes/ alcoholic drinks), which was great. The staff were super helpful, the place was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable. All the amenities worked - hot water & water pressure were wonderful. The only concern was the unsupervised kids at the water's edge even though the hotel had put up signs to say that the water is unsafe, and there were red flags everywhere. This is not a hotel for lounging in the sea (no hotel along the Desaru coast is! - locals know that the current is very strong and quite dangerous) but it is wonderful to be there by the sea, with all these amenities whether you are there as a family or as a couple. AND there were no sand flies as the staff rake up the beach every morning. Strangely though, when we tried to have a coffee at the cafe in the lobby in the evening, there were many mosquitoes even though they had just fogged the space. But that and parents not keeping their kids safe were the only issues, really. It was great, and we'd definitely go back again... Highly recommended!
