“Wonderful stay and amazing food”

We stayed at the resort for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay. It's so beautiful and the service is great. Usually we stay in hostels or simple hotels, but treated ourselves for our honeymoon. We especially recommend the Oriental Pearl, with service from Suresh, sushil, khoo cheong and afrah. The food was amazing and they are so kind! :)

“Wonderful Berjaya!!”

It's difficult to know where to start! The staff are absolutely amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Always pleasant and greeting you with a smile. It's difficult to know where to start! The staff are absolutely amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Always pleasant and greeting you with a smile. It is difficult to single out any individual, but I must say that Jamal was an absolute star! the lady behind the guest help desk was also incredibly helpful and understanding. (has the toner been replaced in the computer room yet? :-) Our accommodation was clean and very comfortable. The added bonus of those beautiful, gentle Dusky-Leaf Monkeys kept us amused. Some commentators have mentioned the need for a refresh or refurbishment of the hotel. That maybe true, but we were happy with the "lived-in" sense, and were in no way inconvenienced or let down by the appearance or service we received. The food was excellent, with massive choice at every meal. We went on a bed-and-breakfast deal, intending to eat more meals at the Oriental Village, but sadly, it has changed in the 11 years since we were last there, and there now seems to be far fewer restaurant/bars. This meant that we ate all our meals in the Berjaya, which was a delight. If I must make a negative comment it is about some of the guests. Many were rude to the staff. There is absolutely no need for this, as they are only too willing to help. Guests snapping their fingers at a staff member is not acceptable!! Please, fellow guests, remember that a smile and a "thank you*" costs nothing. There were a lot of families with children staying at the time of our visit. Sadly, a lot of the children were just left to their own devices at the small pool (with the rock in the middle) whilst their parents were at the large pool enjoying their peace and quiet whilst we had to put up with the noise. The swim-up bar has an awning over it, so when screeching kids are in there, the noise is deafening, and when they are splashing around - some with their parents sitting at the bar - it makes a casual drink unpleasant. Can't there be an "adults only" sign put up around this area? *Thank you = Terima kasih" pronounced "terry-ma-kaseh". The resort looks great on publicity materials. But it is really showing its age if you look carefully. Almost every chalet is missing roof tiles. Lots of broken window wood. The resort looks great on publicity materials. But it is really showing its age if you look carefully. Almost every chalet is missing roof tiles. Lots of broken window wood. Some walls have missing bricks. General building maintenance has been ignored for a long long time. The chalets are still lovely and kept immaculate by a busy cleaning army of staff. The shuttles to and from the main eating areas to the chalets is super quick and brilliantly efficient. Can't be faulted. AC works great. Hot water is brilliant in a super powerful shower. Food is not great though. Breakfast can be described as insipid and really lacking in taste. For dinner Satay chicken was hard. Pizzas were burnt. Stick with local noodle type dishes but their portions are huge and everything has a shrimp paste odour lingering. Pool area brilliant. Clean and welcoming.
