We had a wonderful stay at the Shangri La in Mauritius. The hotel, the beach and especially the whole hotel staff was excellent. After a minor issue at the beginning of our stay, Hassan and Iqbal helped us swiftly and comfortably. We immediately felt that they thoroughly care that all their guests feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. A special thanks to Dave from Safran, who spoiled us with amazing Indian food. Moreover, many thanks to Rakesh for his amazing service and his very welcoming demeanor in two out of three hotel restaurants. Regarding the room service we want to thank the whole staff and particularly Brinda, who was responsible for the tidiness of our room. We have never experienced such an amazing and detailed room cleaning before. It was really the best room cleaning we ever had! All in all, we would definetely recommend this amazing hotel.

Staying at Shangri La was hands down the best holiday experience I have had. And the number one reason for that is the staff. We stayed in the villa, where an incredible team of butlers and chefs gave us a level of service I have never encountered in my life. It was world class. Kreety, Veeren, Sanesh, Ashwini, Rishi and Avi, along with the chefs, made this an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, they treated us like royalty - our every request was catered to. We could eat anything, drink anything, do anything. They remembered every tiny preference (eg how you liked each dish, your drinks preference), constantly ensured the villa was spotless and surprised us with random gifts, drinks and canapés. Every day there were endless delights. Imagine spending a week where at all times there are at least two people ensuring you have not a single worry in the world. Then multiply that by 100 and you are coming close to the level of service you receive. The chefs would take a basic idea from us and turn it into a culinary masterpiece full of delightful flourishes and surprises. And while their professionalism was unparalleled, the villa team also had so much charm and were such a joy to talk to and spend time with. They doted on our son, taught us games and told us about Mauritius without ever being intrusive or imposing. That combination of charm and service is so rare. I’d also like to talk about Sundiya, who looked after our sixth month old son every day (arranged through the hotel babysitting service). What a wise, kind and beautiful soul she is. I’ve never trusted someone more with our child, and from the moment we met her she had an incredible effect on him and all of us. She really made our trip. We really feel our son blossomed in the ten days he spent with her. What we would give to spend time with her all year round! If you are looking for childcare, make sure you request her! If you are considering booking the villa - do not hesitate. It will blow your mind. This is peak luxury, way beyond anything you will get booking a hotel room. You’ll live in a stunning villa, with a beautiful view, regal rooms and world class food. Of course, the hotel is great - a beautiful setting and delicious food, plus many more lovely staff. (Special shout out to the chefs and maitre d' at Four a choux and Sarfran - the best meals we had outside the villa.) But I wanted to focus on the people, because they made an already incredible holiday into something special we will remember forever. Thank you!
