This place is absolutely beautiful & clean. The staff is helpful & friendly. (but at least when we were there they didn’t really speak English) We walked everywhere & I’d say it’s a 10 min walk to town & 15 back bc it’s uphill. This place is absolutely beautiful & clean. The staff is helpful & friendly. (but at least when we were there they didn’t really speak English) We walked everywhere & I’d say it’s a 10 min walk to town & 15 back bc it’s uphill. The roads look more like dry riverbeds once you leave the walls of town. So be advised that sturdy walking shoes are your friends, -It’s also really cheap & easy to get an Uber though if you like. (But I would not recommend San Miguel to anyone who struggles to get around) The grounds here are absolutely gorgeous & in March/April there are big lavender jacaranda trees all over the property that are absolutely heavenly. We stayed in the Suite, it has a balcony, 700+ sq ft, & a huge bathroom. -pro tip:turn on the hand held shower before you get out of the shower bc it takes a few min for the water to get hot so it’s way easier to turn on next time. There was a lot of concern about the smell from the bathrooms in other ppl’s reviews, but we found this same smell plagues the entire area, even the open water that runs along the road to town. (It’s better after it rains) So, I’m not sure how you avoid it, unless you stay in places with more updated plumbing. It wasn’t bad enough to bother us at any point & certainly worth enduring for the price for what you get. Also, be aware of scorpions. They camouflage perfectly with the ground no matter what the surface, but can be found anywhere in San Miguel, so shake out your shoes & be cautious when bare foot. We stayed here over a week & loved every moment, I would highly recommend.
