This resort is excellent! We keep coming back and plan to return in the future. The location is great.

We cannot say enough good things about our experience at Occidental Nuevo Vallarta. Starting with a warm greeting from Nestor to the wonderful receptionist Frances. Our room was lovely and cleaning staff was terrific. The food at the buffet was delicious and our waiters David and Luis were outstanding. Carlos is very friendly and hard working. The fresh orange juice is the best. They looked after us very well. The restaurants starting with Toyko were unbelievable. The service, food and entertainment watching the teppanyaki was so much fun. We absolutely love it. David was so accommodating. Everyone there is very hard working. Chefs Alvaro and Ismel are superb. Jon is excellent. We look forward to seeing all of them every time we come. Olivos is out of this world. Daniel is fantastic. Our waiters Jose, Raphael, Luis and Joan are terrific. We could not ask for better service or food. Mariachi restaurant was also great with authentic Mexican cuisine. The ambiance is breathtaking. We were treated to a wonderful 51st anniversary dinner in the Royal restaurant with perfect service by Eligio complete with champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries. What a great experience! Our nexus representative Mario was very helpful in arranging our tour to Rhythms of the nights. We highly recommend this resort. We will be returning in the future Robert and Colleen

“Not Sure I’d Return….”

This was our third year in a row visiting this resort, we were quite excited to be coming back!! Contacted them about some upgrades for being loyal customers, asked only for a king room with a balcony guarantee. Not something that should have be too hard to do. We arrived at 12:30, knowing check in wasn’t until 3:00. They sent us to floor 7, apparently the Royal check in? No clue as they didn’t tell us. Well, 3 came and went, then 4, then 5….. we asked why can’t we get a room? We have been up since 4 travelling, flying etc. Oh the lock pad isn’t working. Okay fine, understandable. Well 6 came and went still weren’t in our room. They came over and offered us some meal for free and I said what about access to the Royal Pool instead? Oh nope. No. We suddenly were then taken to our room. Which had 2 double beds. Which the lock still wasn’t fixed and if we left, we had to be let in by someone. So we asked for the room we asked for. Well. Finally at 4 the next day we got a new room. They advertise as a non smoking resort, but there are ash trays on every balcony. Okay fine. But to the people smoking right by the pool and dropping your butts on the ground?? Nasty. If you want a pool chair? You better be up by 7 and putting your stuff on one, or keeping your pool towel from the day before because if you don’t you won’t get a chair!! This would be fine - if people would actually use what they take. We watched chairs that were “saved” for hours and hours and nobody ever sat in them. It’s one thing to leave and go eat and come back, say an hour or so, but all damn day?? There are signs that say, belongings will be moved after 30 minutes. That didn’t happen. If you have rules - pool chairs, smoking - enforce them. You don’t need to be super strict but you need to do something. The food was meh this time. Really had gone downhill in comparison to the past years. Also people are just rude. No consideration in the pool by young kids, and parents that don’t parent. If your kid is almost kicking another guest in the face in the pool, or jumps on them you should do something. We are all on a vacation and all want to enjoy it. After all the issues on the first and second day with the room issues and this supposedly free fancy dinner - we were never checked on. Never asked if things were ok or if we needed anything. Just really disappointing for a loyal customer. Oh and that dinner?? Yah, we never got it either. I don’t know if we will be back. Yeah it was on the lower price point - but when you have seen what it can be - it’s really disappointing. The sunsets though - those are breathtaking.
