Fantastic experience staying here. We stayed in the villa which came with a private chef, our own plunge pool, beach area with deck chairs, and a hot tub! Outdoor shower and the little thing to wash your feet after coming in from the beach was a nice touch. The food was excellent, we had breakfast at both the restaurant and at the villa. The chef made amazing things for dinner every night - we had too much food (definitely not used to the portion sizes as we’re Canadian and they were huge!) but it was all delicious. You cannot swim on Zicatela beach - there’s a riptide and the current is strong but the hotel helped us arrange taxis to get around to things we had booked (surf lessons and scuba diving (we got lucky and went swimming with whale sharks) and we’d sometimes walk back. It wasn’t far. Playa Carrizalillo was our preferred beach to go to however there’s a huge staircase to get down to the water. Be prepared for the walk back up. There’s deck chairs for rent and drinks for purchase. Pro tip: The blue ones accepted credit cards. The hotel also organized some outings for us - for instance, baby sea turtle release and a learning session about their conservation with El Centro Ecoturístico Escobilla en el Santuario Playa Escobilla! Definitely recommend that. Yoga in the mornings was a great way to start the day - I didn’t try any of the other activities but the area is outside and covered so you’re not dying of being overheated in the sun. Also: They allowed me to swim with my mermaid tail at the pool! Only negatives I can think of are: 1) They are doing some construction on the building next door but it wasn’t loud or bothersome at all - we were mostly out all day though. And 2) The pricing of what we had for dinner at the villa with the private chef wasn’t clear and that could be improved. But that’s partly on us for not asking. Overall, fantastic place to stay and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an adults only location in Mexico.
