“The pace to stay in Jalpan de la Serra”

This hotel is probably the best option for a Jalpan stay. It is clean, the beds are very comfortable and the location is unbeatable. The restaurant is good although the restaurant service is somewhat slow, particularly at breakfast. Definitely great value for the money.

This is an older hotel located on one side of the parque central next to the church. Some rooms & especially the AC are better than others. The rooms are decent size but many show signs of wear. I would have them show you some rooms before checking in. The hotel has a good restaurant & a pool. It does not have parking. The staff both in the hotel & restaurant were courteous & helpful. We would stay here again as long as we got a room that had been at least somewhat refreshed.

“Food that rescued Jalpan trip”

After 2 hours searching for restaurant in Jalpan where it could be possible to eat, what apears to be dificult, we found this hotel restaurant. And the Cecina serana was just excelent. The service was slow. The prices are very low from what i am used from Mexico.

This could be a pretty good hotel if there was any attention to detail. It has a good location, right next to the mission. It is clean and attractive. The staff are friendly and polite, but definitely not helpful. We made the reservation by phone, and they said they would send a confirmation email, which never arrived. This presumably included info about parking, supposedly they have a lot somewhere, but we were never able to get info out of them as to it’s location. We found a space out front when we arrived, and were advised to just stay there. The second night we arrived around 8:30, and there was an event in the plaza with no parking available. After parking several blocks away, we asked again about the parking lot, and were told too bad, it was already closed for the night. Also when making the reservation, we were told breakfast was available for $95 pesos. However, when we tried to order the first day, they insisted we had to order their expensive buffet instead, so we went elsewhere. The second day I insisted they honor what they said on the phone, so they served us breakfast, and at the end added an extra $30 pesos/person. We had to have another argument until they finally brought the price to what was given over the phone. I want to emphasis, this was the guy in charge at the restaurant, who was polite, but very passive aggressive, and refused to back down until told to by reception. Also, our room, which was initially clean and fairly pleasant, but deteriorated considerably when we returned the second day to find it had been doused in a disgusting sickly sweet perfume. Why, I have no idea, but the smell did not dissipate all night, and was quite unpleasant. Finally, the internet does not really work in the rooms, although it works fine in the lobby and restaurant area, not exactly convenient. Given that, there are not a lot of decent hotel options in the area (although we saw lots of signs for cabañas for rent), so I can’t really not recommend it. It is too bad, because it could be a good hotel with better training of their staff, and better internet.

“Probably better than most in Jalpan”

Although Jalpan is a Pueblo Magico it does not offer a lot of choice when it comes to tourist services. We were there mid week and found the town and activity around the central Plaza to be very quiet. Although Jalpan is a Pueblo Magico it does not offer a lot of choice when it comes to tourist services. We were there mid week and found the town and activity around the central Plaza to be very quiet. The hotel Mision Jalpan is right across the street from the plaza .and within easy walking distance to the market It is an older hotel an offers average accommodation. There is a pool and a restaurant. Our room was quiet and comfortable with A/C and a fan. It opened onto a nice central garden area with some seating.
