These are private quarters not hotel. But for me, a man in the middle of a fifth decade of his life it is a lovely place to spend holidays with family. A place like home. Let's just say that I keep visiting these apartments sixth time year by year. I have seen many beautiful places. I appreciate decent hotels in major cities of the world. But for me there no place like Montenegro. Away from all the mess of this world, away from all I try to avoid when I feel tired. Maybe it is a matter of sentiment. Being a little boy I spent some holidays in Yugoslavia. I was in Ulcinj twice. I remember the majestic silhouette of Jadran Hotel which was destroyed during earthquake in 1992 year. The apartments are located in upper part of the city which is good if like to avoid noisy disco nights (however in Ucinj the discotheques end about 1 am due to some local habits – good for us). Most of the apartments have breathtaking sea view. Because you are on a hill the sea view extends about 120 degrees allover your head. Rooms vary in size: there are small (ca. 12 sq. m) chambers and there are larger two-room apartments (ca. 40 sq. m), depending on what you need. All the rooms are clean, air conditioned and have relatively convenient bathroom an sat tv. You have kitchen facility as well. Prises are decent. It is difficult to describe the atmosphere of this city, a city of my childhood memories. A Gypsy camp mixed with Middle Eastern mysticism? When a “Allah Akbar” is being sung five times a day. Or when you visit the orthodox church where old priests blesses you an the doorstep. Where Albanian and Serbian people live in symbiosis (unlike some tribes in Middle East) since this territory was not affected by the barbarian Balkan war. Every time I come back home I miss this place. A place full of colors which is “hardly European” in a very positive meaning. In the apartments of Mr. Naim and his lovely wife you can relax. Away from the noise. Transport: we choose to travel by plane: Austrian Airlines Warsaw-Vienna Podgorica takes 4 hours including the plane switch. I think it is very similar from other major European cities. Naim will pick you from the airport (50 Euros), the way from Podgorica to Ulcinj takes ca. 80 minutes. If you live in Czech republic or Hungary do not hesitate to go by car.
