El Fenn has always been a must-visit for me, especially as a lover of design, and it was even more inspiring than I imagined. The hotel is a masterpiece of Moroccan maximalism—every corner combines bold color, beautiful tilework, rich textures, and thoughtful art in a way that feels both curated and completely effortless. The rooftop at sunset was my favorite place in Marrakech: the warm light, the view of the mosque in the distance, and the relaxed atmosphere made it the perfect spot for dinner or a cocktail before heading out. The guest-only rooftop pool was serene, with excellent service and wonderfully comfortable loungers—an ideal retreat after days spent exploring artisans and studios. But the true highlight of my trip was our guide, Hanane, who transformed Marrakech into a paradise for anyone interested in interiors, craftsmanship, and authentic Moroccan design. Her contacts within the design community are exceptional. She introduced me to the best local artisans—leatherworkers, lighting makers, custom furniture studios, fabric vendors, and small ateliers producing pieces you simply cannot find without deep local knowledge. With her guidance, I was able to commission custom leather clothing, select handcrafted lighting, and visit workshops that perfectly aligned with my design sensibilities. She understood exactly what I was looking for and curated each stop with an expert eye. What was supposed to be a single day of sourcing turned into three days simply because the experience was so rich and rewarding. Shopping the Medina—which can be overwhelming even for seasoned travelers—became genuinely enjoyable. Hanane handled every negotiation with ease and confidence, often lowering prices to half of the original quote. It allowed me to focus on materials, craftsmanship, and inspiration rather than on haggling. She also was able to get me in to Bacha coffee without waiting in the two hour line, what a beautiful museum and the most beautiful place in the world for coffee. Her care extends far beyond design. When a very important FedEx package was delivered to the wrong location, Hanane stepped in immediately. She contacted the driver directly and arranged for him to meet me the next morning. Without her intervention, the package would have been sent back to the U.S. For anyone passionate about interiors, art, or craftsmanship, Hanane is absolutely invaluable. Her taste, connections, and instinct for design make Marrakech come alive in the most incredible way. If design is any part of your visit, make sure you request Hanane—you will leave inspired, enriched, and already planning your return.

Was so looking forward to coming to experience el fen but from the moment we got there it was so underwhelming. We had dinner reservations for 7 oclock and arrived early so we could experience the shop and have a drink on the roof top bar . We arrived at 6.15 to be told the shop was shut (no mention on there web site ) we went up to the roof terrace to be told to find our seating , no one to show us where to go , once we found seating a 45 minute wait to get a drink !!!!! We were later told by guests that it was a prayer time and although I fully understand you need to let people know what is going on , we then went in for dinner at seven , at best it was ok but I really couldn’t think straight because I was so cold , be aware the resteraunt is very open to the elements , I was completely underwhelmed this is def not a 5 star experience I would not recommend
