Riad Assouel “this is your home” was the welcome we received. The hospitality was second to none. Brilliant experience. Thank you From the moment you step foot into the tranquil, exotic atmosphere of Riad Assouel you are transported into a warm, friendly and carefully curated experience of Marrakech hospitality. Younes and all the team are exceptionally welcoming and helpful and the food is out of this world. The Riad is beautifully designed, kept spotless and in the perfect location for access to everything the Medina has to offer. Our room and all areas of the Riad have everything necessary for the perfect stay including air conditioning, spacious bathroom and shower, swimming pool, and roof top sun terrace with jacuzzi. The staff are available 24/7 and nothing is too much trouble, from arranging transfers and trips to offering invaluable local knowledge. The warmth of their welcome made our stay one of the most perfect holidays ever and we will definitely be returning. In addition, we arrived home to notice we had not packed a treasured necklace, but a few messages and Younes found the jewellery and helped return it to us by courier. This has totally restored my faith in humanity as in any hotel anywhere in the world, it is a pleasant surprise to have mislaid valuables returned safely. This demonstrates how truly amazing and caring Riad Assouel and the staff genuinely are. As they repeatedly told us during our stay “this is your home”. You couldn’t ask for more. If you want a true and enchanting experience of Marrakech Riad Assouel is the place to stay.

“Beautiful riad, great location, super helpful staff”

Beautiful road with exceptionally helpful friendly staff. The rooftop pool is warm and a lovely spot to relax. The rooms are air conditioned and extremely comfortable. “Favourite riad in Marrekesh”

We loved our stay! Thank you Youssef, Hamzah, Yunis, the fantastic ladies who cleaned and, in particular, the brilliant chef Amina. Amina’s wonderful tagines, couscous and breakfasts were delicious. We relaxed in the stunning atrium, dipped in the beautiful pool, were organised by Youssef and Hamzah (his English was excellent) and Youssef whisked away my broken shoes and brought them back mended. The rooftop was a peaceful sunspot and the rooftop jacuzzi perfect for cooler moments with a chilled drink. We spent 4 nights at the riad, visiting the desert for a night away part way through. We loved ballooning, a cooking morning, Ben Youssef Medasa, Jardin Majorelle, Hamman de la Rose, negotiating in the souks and getting lost in the incredible network of narrow streets. Every time we returned to the riad it was bliss. A haven. Hidden away, but walking distance to all of the above apart from ballooning, as well as restaurants and bars - street level and rooftop. We thoroughly recommend Riad Assouel and will be back!

I am kind of torn on how to rate this Riad and took my time before posting this review. The positives: The hotel itself is charming, the room was spacious, well furnished and clean. The location is ideal for exploring the medina on your own and there are various restaurants and small shops close by. It is a calm little oasis within the bustling streets of Marrakech. The food was really good and staff was always willing to accomodate requests. Especially the young man waiting the tables in the morning and at dinner time was extremely efficient and very friendly and helpful. The negatives: When we checked in, the staff member (I didn't catch his name) asked me to pull up my booking.com-booking and took my phone with him to another room. I didn't react fast enough in the situation, but when I asked him about it later, he couldn't really explain to me, why this was necessary. The really interesting part was, that our booking was only listed as 2 nights in their internal system, despite us having booked 3 nights; the staff member checking my booking-Account on my phone (with 3 nights clearly displayed) and us having prebooked an airport transfer for our last day (after 3 nights of stay). Still we had to explain this circumstance several times to several staff members. In the end it didn't cause any problems for us, but it leaves a little bit of an aftertaste. Why did they need to take my phone and why did they not notice the discrepancy even after supposedly checking? Another slight point of irritation for us was the cleaning staff. Despite my partner laying in bed reading, they barged in the room several times, clearly indicating their annoyance at his presence there. My partner told them, cleaning wasn't necessary as we had just arrived the night before, but they would not let up, so he felt forced to leave the room. A few days later that same cleaning staff would constantly interrupt while we were taking care of the payment at the reception. The staff member at the reception asked us, if we had understood what she was saying in Arabic, indicating to us, that she was talking about us. While we were right there. Which is rude in any culture. In summary: the Riad itself is beautiful and located perfectly, but staff could use a lot more training.
