“The best part of our trip to Morocco !”

From our first step through the hidden doors , we felt the magic of Riad Herougui , Touria and Mohammad. Beauty, comfort, peace and the night we had dinner was a experience I will treasure for the rest of life. I HIGHLY recommend taking dinner in the Riad, and wish we had not left it until the las… more

“the real marrakech experience”

Clean, quiet, safe and cozy! Touria is super helpful and she makes you feel at home . You really need a place like this to hide after a tour in Marrakech. The breakfast is excellent, but don't miss the dinner in the terrace ..you cannot eat better in Marrakech, enjoy the terrace by night, it will… more

“A quiet refuge in central Medina”

We loved our 3 nights at Riad Herougui. The best: Mohammed and Touria, our hosts and staff for our stay. Mohammed showed us around the Medina, arranged taxis for us, recommended restaurants and hammams, and even let us into the Riad after midnight when we foolishly lost the key one evening while … more

“Riad Herougui is Exceptional”

We initially planned to stay at Riad Herougui but due to an overbooking that was not possible. Charlotte, the owner of Riad Herougui graciously offered to host a dinner for us which turned out to be one of the best dinners that we had in all of Morocco. Touria, (the chef) prepared a traditional M… more

“February at Riad Herougui”

Welcoming host, calm and comfortable, though our bed was a bit too firm. Great sun terrace on the roof with views across the Médina and High Atlas in distance. Great location to explore the souks from. 30 minutes from airport. Very clean and well maintained riad.

About the property

Description

This charming guesthouse is only 8 minutes' walk from the main Jemma el Fnaa square and just 2 minutes from the Ben Youssef Medersa, the Marrakech Museum, Ben Salah square and the East entrance of the souks (covered markets). Access by car is very difficult as the streets are very narrow. Guests must therefore book a taxi in advance as the ones available at the airport are expensive and will leav… more

Frequently asked questions about Riad Herougui

  • What do guests say about Riad Herougui?

Guests at Riad Herougui say: From our first step through the hidden doors , we felt the magic of Riad Herougui , Touria and Mohammad. Beauty, comfort, peace and the night we had dinner was a experience I will treasure for the rest of life. I HIGHLY recommend taking dinner in the Riad, and wish we had not left it until the last night , if we had known , we would have done it more often. Not only was the food one of the most superb meals we have had, but waking after a nap in our beautifully air conditioned room to the sound of gentle Mahalia Jackson we had no idea what in store. Candles lit the pool and table and our appetizers awaited , although we slept way past our time we said we would be ready. Mohammad made our evening magical. Our food plentiful and the best Tagine we had in Morocco. The memory of that night will last with me forever. Travel in Morocco is hard for two women alone. It was specifically hard for my Daughter being younger, and the unwanted attention and sometimes abuse by men is difficult. Touria and Mohammad mad our stay safe and gave us advice and care. Walked us to the drivers they arranged for us, and were always there to help. One word of advice, because of the side of the medina the Riad is on, the Souk shuts down around 8-9pm Do not get caught without a guide to get you back to the Riad. We had a bad experience , but paid a guide after a sketchy go. Sometimes its just better to pay. 40 -50 dirhams top. Its just the way it is. Breakfast was wonderful. Different every day, fresh fruit, fresh juice and warm milk with our coffee. Freshly made crepes and cheese or yogurt. We were lucky as we had the entire Riad to ourselves , however , I doubt this would make a difference . It was the little things. If we mentioned we might swim, there were fresh towels on the loungers by the pool. Always fresh bottles of water in the room, and our air con on room cool when we arrived. I am lucky to travel for a living, and stay in 4-5 star hotels In my opinion, this outranks any of them. The Riad is decorated impeccably, the location is perfect, and the staff is perfection ! But please have dinner more than once!
