From the moment we arrived (welcomed with Moroccan tea) until we departed the service was exceptional. My daughter and I had never been to Morocco. The staff arranged a 4 hour tour of the Medina with a certified guide. It was surely a 6 hour tour packed with history and culture. I recommend this tour for any first timer. The riad was beautiful. We returned from our tour to a fruit basket and Moroccan treats. The staff accommodated our every need from excursions- hot air balloon excursion is a must do- to transfers to the airport. Don’t skip the spa. If you’ve never had a Hammam you’re in for a special experience. Finally a special call out to Hanane who made our visit special.

The main square and souks are walkable in around 25 - 30 minutes, with the Bahia Palace, Secret Garden, and the Photographic and Music museums all within a further reasonable stroll. The main square and souks are walkable in around 25 - 30 minutes, with the Bahia Palace, Secret Garden, and the Photographic and Music museums all within a further reasonable stroll. Staff at the Riyad are all helpful and friendly, there is a welcoming bar and the food is worth staying in for. We never experienced the spa or pool as there was always somewhere to visit but noted their presence. Would we go back? Definitely.

“This Riad is in a great location for walking to the main sights in the medina”

The Riad is tucked away off the Kasbah road where taxi’s are not allowed to go but the drivers will point you in the right direction. The Riad is tucked away off the Kasbah road where taxi’s are not allowed to go but the drivers will point you in the right direction. The hotel can arrange a private airport transfer if you request this. A traditional Riad which has great character but I would recommend requesting a first floor room as the ground floor ones open directly onto seating areas or the restaurant. We booked a ‘luxury suite’ but 4 star rating in Morocco is not as high quality as 4 star in UK. We had a coffee pod machine but were never given any pods for it. You only get one bottle of water in the room when you first arrive and afterwards will need to pay to have anymore or buy water from nearby shops. We were welcomed with some traditional mint tea and this was a nice touch. We also had some dishes with sultanas, nuts and biscuits brought to the room when we first arrived and there was a bowl of fruit in the room. We were taking our city break with friends who had a room on the ground floor which opened directly onto an area with tables outside, so they never opened their window shutters. Their TV also didn’t work for the entire trip and staff tried to fix it but couldn’t. The bathroom was OK but not what I would describe as luxury in a so called ‘luxury suite’. We stayed half board. One evening we had not requested a table at any particular time and returned from our day out early evening to be told that the restaurant was fully booked and we could not have a table until 9:30 pm. The restaurant was never full because they do not have enough staff to run a full restaurant. When we were seated just before 9:30, we were almost the last guests in there and were made to feel unwelcome by staff turning off the music and water feature, blowing out candles on other tables and two members of staff taking table tops off the table frames and moving some tables out of the room. The food was reasonable in the restaurant but the menu does not change and not likely to give you enough choice if you stay longer than 3 nights. The female member of staff in reception was excellent - extremely helpful and had very good English

“Not a 4 Star hotel experience”

Good location. Food expensive and not as good as restaurants we visited. No atmosphere in restaurant or bar as guests seem to go out for food and drink. The barman was excellent though. Our hammam experience was poor and expensive. We decided to have hammam in the hotel despite it being cheaper elsewhere and were told by Fatima on reception that we could all go together despite us suggesting to go 2 persons then 1 person afterwards. However, it was a bad experience as it was rushed because there were only 2 masseurs for 3 of us. We complained about this and were told to wait for the manager’s response but we were not contacted again. On checking out we were charged full price and the hotel offered no apology they just shifted blame to the masseurs and would not take any responsibility. There was no goodwill shown to us whatsoever, hence this complaint. There was only 1 teabag in the room. A coffee machine with no coffee. One bottle of water for 2 of us but no glasses. We asked for some nuts with our drinks but they didn’t have any. I don’t think this warrants 4 stars grading for the Riad. In summary we can’t recommend this hotel.
