“nice, but don't go yet”

No doubt you will be swayed by the beautiful photo from the lobby to the pool to the beach and to the sea beyond. For the moment, there is a building site in the middle so that the sea is hidden. No doubt you will be swayed by the beautiful photo from the lobby to the pool to the beach and to the sea beyond. For the moment, there is a building site in the middle so that the sea is hidden. It's for improvements, which is fair enough, but why do this when the season is just starting? Surely jan/feb/etc would be better? You can access the beach, but it's a cordoned off area of a public beach - but it's not too bad. Overall the hotel is smart and modern and well furnished, the stalff are all friendly, helpful and professional. A special thankyou to 2 of the restaurant managers - Mohammed and Ayub. But this is a Sofitel and you expect a lot, as it's expensive. As others have noted, i do wonder about the management. Service was a bit slow at times although there were plenty of staff about. There were works in the room next to us, which were quiet and didn't disturb us, but there was a mess on the carpet all evening and all night and was only cleaned up after breakfast..................... On a similar note, the room we had, which had a partial sea view was large and airy, but cluttered with furniture and it was difficult to move about the place. The safe was on the top shelf of the wardrobe, so if you are short you have to reach and you can't see inside. The shaver socket is so low down in the bathroom that you have to get on your hands and knees to see which one is 240v and which one is 110v Overall, not quite the Sofitel experience that you might expect, although was nice. Would we stay here again? Not really, we would probably look at a different hotel first.

We stayed four nights at Sofitel Tamuda Bay Beach Resort and left feeling disappointed, mainly because the experience did not match either the reputation of the Sofitel brand or the price we paid (approximately 16,000 MAD for four nights, breakfast included). Let us start with the positives. The property itself is attractive, the surroundings are pleasant, and several members of the restaurant team were genuinely professional and attentive. A special thank you to Wassim, who was always friendly, welcoming and eager to help throughout our stay. The quality of the breakfast was good, although we found the selection rather limited for a hotel of this category. Unfortunately, several issues significantly impacted our stay. From the moment we arrived, we noticed that our room was far noisier than expected. Despite having the windows closed, music and poolside activities could be clearly heard inside the room, making it difficult to rest. We requested a room change but were told this was not possible. On our very first evening, the shower caused a major flood due to poor drainage. Water spread throughout the bathroom and all the way to the entrance of the room, creating a genuine slipping hazard. A technician was sent, but no alternative solution or room change was offered. The issue reoccurred during our stay, which was particularly disappointing for a hotel of this standard. We were also surprised by the size and layout of the rooms. They felt relatively small, lacked practical storage space and were not particularly functional. The bedding and pillows were not especially comfortable, and some equipment, including the hairdryer, was not working properly. Another major disappointment was the so-called “private beach”. In reality, it is simply a reserved section within a public beach. People who are not hotel guests can freely access the surrounding area and remain very close to the sunbeds. As a result, there was little sense of privacy or exclusivity. We were frequently approached by people from outside the hotel, and the beach environment did not reflect the luxury experience we expected. We also found the beach and sea area less clean than anticipated, with visible litter in certain areas. More generally, we felt that service lacked anticipation. We regularly had to request basic items, follow up on previous requests or report issues ourselves. At this price level, we expected a more proactive and guest-oriented approach. Our biggest disappointment, however, was the handling of guest concerns. While some employees were excellent, the reception team often seemed reluctant to address problems or offer meaningful solutions. We felt listened to, but not truly taken care of. Sofitel Tamuda Bay certainly has potential, and some members of staff deserve recognition for their professionalism. However, considering the price, the brand reputation and the level of service expected from a luxury resort, the overall experience fell short of expectations. We left with the feeling that this was not the Sofitel experience we had hoped for.
