“Inhaca is an awesome place... been there many times now.”

Before I wrote this, I read all of the reviews. Some claim there is nothing to do, while other complain about the lack of speaking English (but demonstrate they can not speak English at all). Come one people! It is obvious you have not done your homework. First, Mozambique was a Portuguese colony.… more

“Great place for short stay”

Have spent 2 nights over there, the hotel is not a palace but rooms are very pleasant and clean services very good. At the restaurant not everything is available always something was missing to complete a dish wish! Arround the hotel is wonderfull, hotel good to have an experience on the island.

“Great place for a short bresk”

Stayed here with 2 friends a while back. Had a lovely lodge which was at the back of the resort and very quiet. This lodge is very convenient for the various ferries. The pool at the front is lovely to swim in and relax by. The food was also good. It's quite an idyllic spot. Do take a walk into the… more

“Great for weekend aways”

This is the typical African lodge with a kick of modernization. The rooms are set up as bungalows which are rather spacious with a spacious bathroom (shower only). The food is GREAT and the view of the sea that faces the lodge is breathtaking . The beach is right next to the lodge , which offers gr… more

Frequently asked questions about Pestana Inhaca Lodge

  • What are the top guest reviews of Pestana Inhaca Lodge?

The top reviews of Pestana Inhaca Lodge are: Before I wrote this, I read all of the reviews. Some claim there is nothing to do, while other complain about the lack of speaking English (but demonstrate they can not speak English at all). Come one people! It is obvious you have not done your homework. First, Mozambique was a Portuguese colony.. so guess what... they speak Portuguese. Even as an American, I try to speak the local language. It is part of getting into the culture. Certainly, I do not demand that they speak English. Now, put aside the comments of there being nothing today. Inhaca is full of activities, but the are outdoors activities. It is a remote island so you should stay in City if you want to club. While we are there, we snorkel, scuba dive, fish, beach, hike, visit the Elephant Preserve, boat, play ball with monkey fruit. Traveling to Inhaca isn't easy. You can drive, which takes you around the bay and through the preserve, but depending on the time of year you will need to plan 4 or 6 hours. You can ride one of the several ferries but you need to grow up and check the schedule for yourself (remember you are in Africa so do not expect the schedule to be exactly timely either). You can charter a sped boat (I have done that for $50US). You can charter a plane and land on the beach. Speaking of beaches, they are among the most beautiful and unspoiled in the entire world. Something is magical about the place and the people are wonderful, if you are respectful of them. If you need more information I would be happy to provide it. Now as far as the lodge goes, it is clean and comfortable, but it is not the Marriott. The people are respectful but not outgoing. Many grew up on the island and are thankful for the job especially considering Mozambique is still recovering from the longest civil war in Africa. Make certain you interact. Buy some of their goods (like the crab that wa caught that morning and will still pinch you) and visit the school so you can learn about the culture..
