“Excellent hotel in New Bagan! Perfect for exploring the temples!”

Outstanding hotel in Bagan, Myanmar! First off, location - Hotel Temple View is located on the outskirts of town, making it convenient for trips into town for restaurants, supplies/rations, and ideal as a launchpad to explore the 4000 plus temples in Old Bagan. I booked through Agoda, and my pack… more

“Amazing views, comfortable stay ”

The hotel was great for a quick visit to Bagan. We selected a room with a balcony view of the temples, and it was a surreal experience opening up the curtains to such a view. The room was comfortable enough, with decent air conditioning, and no mosquito problem. The front desk was very helpful with… more

“Café da manhã com os balões”

Located in New Bagan, the hotel is some easy 10 minutes by ebike from Old Bagan. Next to the hotel is a great cheap place to rent ebikes. The price is very cheap and it is owned by a very nice family. We chose to hire a tour guide and it was definitely worth it. Breakfast is served in the terrace … more

“A mixed picture”

Don't choose a temple view room on the ground floor, it is very near to a road, and builders were using the garden for material delivery at 4 30 am..you have to live behind closed curtains. The hotel is on the outskirts of new Bagan and you need your own transport: we rented everyday ebikes from nex… more

  • The top reviews of Hotel Temple View Bagan are: Outstanding hotel in Bagan, Myanmar! First off, location - Hotel Temple View is located on the outskirts of town, making it convenient for trips into town for restaurants, supplies/rations, and ideal as a launchpad to explore the 4000 plus temples in Old Bagan. I booked through Agoda, and my package included airport pick-up as well as a room upgrade (Temple View Room). The airport transfer was on time and seamless, even though my flight was 3 hours delayed (reception staff were so extremely efficient at organizing my airport transfer despite not knowing exactly when my flight would arrive!). This was appreciated after a long day of traveling, waiting in airports. Rooms were large and spacious. Very comfortable hotel in which to spend the Christmas holidays! The bed was large, and the linens were spotless. The mattress was a bit firm for my liking, but, I still slept very soundly! Bathrooms have clearly been renovated in the last two years, everything looked brand new! I know some reviewers complained about the state of the bathroom, but the bathroom in room was tidy, and everything looked new! Water was hot, and shower pressure was good! The shower was also enclosed, so water didn’t go everywhere, which was nice! Bathroom layout was functional! Rooms were nicely decorated and came with functional furniture such as a coffee table, bar stool, desk, and both a luggage storage rack and a cabinet. Rooms came with air conditioning, a flatscreen tv (with only 5 channels, and only 1 channel in English - premier soccer), an electric kettle, coffee cups with saucer plates, glasses, spoons, 2 bottles of water, 3-in-1 coffee, a select mini bar with drinks and noodles, and ample electric outlets. Bathrooms were stocked with bar soap and little bottles of shampoo and shower gel, along with 2 dental kits, bar soap and shower caps. My only complaint about the room amenities would be the lack of English channels or (any channels really) - unless you enjoy watching premier league football 24/7, you will be quite bored with the selection. However, in the end, this wasn't a dealbreaker for me, as, by the time I returned home from a long day of sightseeing, I was too puttered out to care, and found myself watching premier league football, sipping wine. I even got into the spirit of some matches, after enough wine was had! The hotel is pretty near the town - I was able to walk into the heart of town in 10 mins, where there were many liquor shops, supermarkets, mini markets, fruit vendors, restaurants, hotels, and everything in-between! I was able to find everything I needed for a few days, all within walking distance. This is why I chose to stay in New Bagan vs. Old Bagan. I didn't want to have to be stuck eating in expensive hotels every meal in Old Bagan. New Bagan offers many budget choices, and is very near to the temples! Even on foot! Hotel staff were just incredible! Housekeeping was on point and was conducted daily! Staff went above and beyond to help coordinate transfers to the bus station and anything else guests need, like information etc. The staff were able to arrange for me to pay the heritage/entrance fee at the hotel. They also arranged for me to do laundry at a very fair rate - 500 kyat per item, which was equivalent to prices in New Bagan, not to mention convenient being able to drop-off and pick-up laundry in house in a day turnaround. Thank you for this! Wifi was strong for Myanmar, and worked well enough! Electricity cut in and out, but this is a problem all over Myanmar! The hotel has a generator, which runs from 6:00pm onwards, so you’re never without power for more than 20 mins, even when it does cut out! The breakfast buffet I will rate as average, but it's only because I don't eat fried rice or Asian food for breakfast. That all said, the kitchen staff were amazing and allowed me to eat off menu, cooking eggs to order for me, so in the end, I was a happy camper! I ordered eggs in the morning and filled up on coffee and fresh fruits, when on offer! The hotel offers beautiful views, particularly at sunrise/breakfast time! You can watch the hot air balloons go up into the air from the hotel while you enjoy your morning coffee! This was really enjoyable! The hotel rents various forms of transport, from ebikes (20,000 kyat/day) to much more expensive forms of transport. I chose none, and opted to go on foot the 4 days I spent in Bagan! Every day, I ventured off in a new direction, exploring the many temples! Mind you, I love to walk, and it's not unusual for me to rack up 20-30 kilometres in a day of traveling, so for me, exploring this way was completing doable! If you're not very fit, or don't enjoy walking, I suggest you rent an ebike. I preferred to go on foot, which not only saved me from spending money unnecessarily, but I got lots of exercise in the day, and I was able to stop and explore with much more ease on foot. People found it extremely curious that I was walking about, so I don't think this is a common way to explore here, but it worked for me! In 4 days, I saw all of the major and minor temples I needed to see, and quite enjoyed walking down the peaceful sandy paths! At the end of the day, I was so happy to return back to my hotel room for cold water, and air conditioning! The temples were spectacular! The major/large temples are highly commercialized, with many vendors, but I understand they are trying to make a living, and took it for what it was! The highlight of my trip was, without question, the sunrise hot air balloon ride, which I did with Balloons over Bagan! It was amazing to see the city of Bagan and temples from above in the misty sunrise! I will remember this always! This hotel was wonderful, I really enjoyed my stay here, and definitely would opt to stay here again in future! I highly recommend for travellers, for the reasons above! Staff were very courteous, friendly, and extremely helpful in providing information and anything extra to make guests' stays more comfortable! I really enjoyed spending the Christmas holidays here - couldn't have picked a better spot!.
