We arrived here after a very long drive from Nossob, in South Africa with ever changing and spectacular scenery along the way . The last stretch , however , was a real surprise: thanks to the recent rains the rugged landscape was softened by patches of yellow, white and pink small wildflowers creating a striking contrast with the iconic quiver trees. But the arrival at the lodge was even more surprising : the property is perched right on the edge of the canyon and the view was simply stunning . The same incredible panorama could also be enjoyed from the chalet, which is tastefully decorated and designed down to the smallest detail . The strong cold wind that swept across the canyon after sunset made the place feel even more dramatic and atmospheric . We deliberately chose not to use the earplug provided , as we wanted to fully experience the unique sound and atmosphere of this extraordinary setting. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular and watching the colours of the canyon change with the light throughout the day was priceless Although there was no heating in the chalet , finding hot water bottles in the bed every evening was a touch that we greatly appreciated . Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and were served in the warm , cozy atmosphere created by the lit fireplaces The lodge also offers a game drive down to the riverbed , an experience we thoroughly enjoyed . The descent follows a rather bumpy track , but our guide was extremely skilled and attentive , stopping at fa few points and inviting us to walk short sections so we could better appreciate the beauty of the surrounding. Once we reached the riverbed a guy from the staff , who accompanied us during the descent , prepared a beautifully buffet lunch served under a shaded pergola just below a big rock overlooking the river : a truly unexpected surprise. “Spectacular!!”

We loved our stay at Fish River Lodge!! The location on the rim of the canyon is magnificent and the staff are amazing, so friendly and kind. We did the full-day canyon hike with Alex and it was incredible: stunning landscapes and lots of great info from Alex about the flora and fauna; the swim in … more

We loved our stay at Fish River Lodge!! The location on the rim of the canyon is magnificent and the staff are amazing, so friendly and kind. We did the full-day canyon hike with Alex and it was incredible: stunning landscapes and lots of great info from Alex about the flora and fauna; the swim in the rock pool was so refreshing! Highly recommended!!

“WOW - stunning view offish river canyon”

The view of Fish River Canyon as you walk into the lodge is absolutely breathtaking—what a treat, and one of the highlights of our four-week trip through Namibia. The view of Fish River Canyon as you walk into the lodge is absolutely breathtaking—what a treat, and one of the highlights of our four-week trip through Namibia. The drive from the main road is long, but completely worth it. Take it slow and steady. We had a 4WD vehicle, and personally, we wouldn’t have felt comfortable making the journey in a standard car. All the rooms are perched right on the canyon rim, and the setting is simply stunning. The bed was very comfortable, and as the nights were quite chilly during our stay, the hot water bottle left in our room each evening was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. The only minor downside was that the shower water pressure wasn’t great, but given the remote location, that felt like a small price to pay. The food was excellent, and as a vegetarian, I really appreciated how happy the team were to accommodate me. The main lodge had a wonderfully cosy atmosphere in the evenings, kept warm by two large wood-burning fires. A truly memorable stay, and somewhere we would highly recommend for anyone visiting Namibia.

We spent 2 nights in this lodge located just above the rim of the canyon. The view from the room is nice. The room itself is rather average in terms of decoration and amenities (no bathrobes, no slippers …). The service is quite average and could be improved ( we had to ask for bread and yogurt a… more

We spent 2 nights in this lodge located just above the rim of the canyon. The view from the room is nice. The room itself is rather average in terms of decoration and amenities (no bathrobes, no slippers …). The service is quite average and could be improved ( we had to ask for bread and yogurt at breakfast, there was an error in our bill for extras) especially if we compared to the other lodges where we stayed. The day excursion in the canyon was worth it and I definitely recommends it .
