The hotel is located right on the beach and has stunning views and a lovely restaurant. We(2 x couples) shared one of their Ocean view 2 x bdrm room, 2 x bthroom rooms. The hotel is located right on the beach and has stunning views and a lovely restaurant. We(2 x couples) shared one of their Ocean view 2 x bdrm room, 2 x bthroom rooms. There was 1 x bdrm + ensuite and 1 x bed in the main room, with another bathroom. It worked well for 1 x night. We sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed the stunning sunset. Their on-site restaurant served delicious food and had a fabulous view over the water. Would highly recommend.

“A very good hotel with great staff.”

Beautifully situated right on the beach at Hokitika this hotel was a real find. We were welcomed so warmly by Michael that we already had a good feeling about it the moment we stepped through the door. The room was large, clean and with everything we needed. Bathroom was also clean and spacious with a good shower. We were reasonably late arriving and ate in the restaurant after watching sunset through the nearby driftwood sign at 8.40. Lotis was our waitress and so friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. I had lamb 2 ways that was beautifully cooked and great accompanying vegetables and flavours. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast had plenty of variety. We only stayed one night which was a pity. The only slight issue was there was no aircon in the rooms. Not a problem for us when we were there but of hotter it could be since the sun shines in through large windows/patio doors to the balcony. With sandflies you can't really leave them open all the time.

I stayed in one of the Driftwood rooms and found it very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and professional whenever I encountered them in any part of the hotel. There is free parking at the front of the hotel and the check-in process was very smooth. The room itself was well appointed in neutral colours, a modern clean white bathroom suite and comfortable bed with plenty of storage. I was stayed in the hotel as part of a leisure trip but I think the hotel would also be suited to a business trip. The hotel also has a restaurant called Ocean View where we had an amazing meal in the evening.

“Ticked all the Boxes, Right on the Foreshore”

After an initial bungle with Agoda, (they were selling rooms for $44 then the hotel was saying the booking didn't exist when I contacted them about bedding config) the hotel was worth the effort to stay. After an initial bungle with Agoda, (they were selling rooms for $44 then the hotel was saying the booking didn't exist when I contacted them about bedding config) the hotel was worth the effort to stay. The hotel was responsive but were not acknowledging anything - just to go back through Agoda. Agoda ended up sorting the room with extra charges just could have been worse if we arrived to no booking. The hotel said this happens alot so really should be sorted out by now. Location of the hotel couldn't be better. Literally right on the beach as the name suggests. Walking distance to everything in town. Hotel itself is welcoming and bright. Restaurant out on the deck was a nice place for a drink and the food was good. Got very busy around dinner time but still great service. Nice view out to the foreshore. Rooms were big enough for 2 people to have their own space, even in the more budget room category. Beds were comfy and bathroom was spacious, with heated towel racks a nice addition. All the toiletries provided were fantastic! Check out was super simple with a drop box. Parking was free and easy at the property. If you can get this hotel at a decent price, Id recommend it as your first choice in Hokitika.
