“Ok for the price we paid”

This hotel has received some fairly harsh reviews on TripAdvisor and elsewhere, and whilst we agree with some of the comments, our room was not as bad as other reviews would have suggested. “Not the best”

The hotel room that we stayed in was clean, definitely not modern but it was spacious. We felt the room was a bit uncomfortable, as the room door was not secure. The hotel is located in a great street.

We cannot compare to other accommodation in Hamilton, but believe our one night stay was acceptable for the price paid. Firstly, and most importantly, our two bedroom room was clean, and did not smell of cigarette smoke Inon smoking room). The beds were firm and comfortable. We did not notice mould in the room as reported by others. However, it is fair to say that the accommodation is 'tired' overall... it is an older style and a complete face lift would do wonders (and probably increase the room rate too). Kitchen facilities: only one pan and one saucepan without lid, but a good set of cutlery, other cooking utensils and crockery. Microwave and large fridge (without freezer). The kettle smelt of bleach so we boiled water for tea in the microwave. Bedroom: Some photos show bedside lamps, but there were none in our room, and we couldn't find any power points in the main MR. HVAC: heater in living area only, and two standing fans provided. No air-conditioning, which was a downside as the room was uncomfortably warm. We couldn't' use the fan in the main bedroom since we couldn't find any power points. Open the door and windows for flow through ventilation. Bathroom: did have two face towels provided for four of us (other reviews report none provided, but not having face towels is common in our experience). We agree that the water pressure was lower than average. The wash basin was large and modern. Noise: The complex didn't appear full based on the car park, and noise from other guests wasn't noticed. A storm water drain right outside the rear of the unit is also used for some grey water, and this was disturbingly noisy when others were using their bathroom when we were trying to sleep. WiFi: OK Location: Pak n Save is walking distance and countdown is close by too. We didn't have any issues with the reception staff Overall, ok for our one night stay, but nothing special. We noted many other 'with vacancy' accommodation available during our stay - maybe there are other places in Hamilton that represent better value for money.
