More on the basic side but that is really all you need most staff were friendly and happy to give us any more supplies we needs (toilet paper etc) very easy to locate and the restaurant was really nice steak was cooked perfectly would be even better if they made cocktails to haha. Kitchenette in units could do with a stove or induction cooker of somewhat but otherwise pleasant visit

“Clean and Convenient, but Basic for the Cost”

We stayed at Capital Lodge Motor Inn for four days with a large group of around 50 people as part of a tournament, and overall the experience was okay, but it didn’t quite match the price we paid. On the positive side, the rooms were clean and tidy, and the property is very conveniently located just off the motorway, which made travel easy. There is also a vending machine in the lobby, which was handy given the lack of nearby amenities. However, there were a number of drawbacks, particularly for a large group stay. Parking was awkward, especially for vans, which made arrivals and departures more stressful than they needed to be. There was only one laundry room, and the facilities weren’t sufficient for three teams staying during a tournament. This was a real limitation given the length of our stay. The breakfast was very basic, and overall the food was overpriced and not great quality. There are also no restaurants or amenities within walking distance, which made meal options inconvenient. In our room, I noticed there was no milk in the fridge, and sheets were not changed daily, which was disappointing given the cost of the accommodation. One frustrating incident occurred at breakfast when the toaster burnt the toast and triggered the fire alarm. The alarm wasn’t turned off until the fire brigade arrived, which felt unnecessary and disruptive for guests. The staff at the front desk were polite but felt quite transactional, there wasn’t much in the way of conversation or personal engagement. Considering the size of our group and the length of our stay, I had expected some form of discount, added attention, or extras (such as complimentary breakfast), but everything felt very standard and basic. From a value perspective, the stay was more expensive than I felt it was worth. While it was fine overall, the cost didn’t really match the value provided. I would consider staying again only if the price was significantly reduced or on sale, but for group travel, especially sports teams, I think there is room for improvement in both facilities and value.

The camper van site here is really just the car park to the motel. There are some facilities available, but they are fairly basic, with a strange control for the showers outside the bathroom. The site is just off a major road so relatively noisy even at night, but there is a shared kitchen and the facilities are clean and working. There are two self-service laundries which work well. Driving into Wellington from here could be tricky, and parking a camper van in the city even more so. But there is a bus service from the end of the road right into the city centre, which was great and took around 20 minutes. We chose it because it seemed to be about the nearest site to the city and the location was OK. There's not too much more to recommend it.
