One of the best hotels we used during our extensive New Zealand holiday. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was smart and clean. The room was brilliant and incorporated a washer and a dryer in the bathroom, which was invaluable as we had by then been travelling for two weeks. The location is near most central attractions such as the Octagon and the area round the station. We used the paid parking which is in a block literally across the access road from the entrance to the hotel. It was a weekend and the car park was fairly empty such that we easily found space on the ground floor - I suspect it doubles as commercial parking during the week as the hotel is in the business district when it would be much busier - and also cheaper on-street parking may be an option at weekend. Just remember to get your ticket validated at reception! We would definitely return here if we came to Dunedin again and there's so much we missed that we would love to return.

“Another great Distinction property”

Once again we were spoiled at a Distinction property (our third stay at a Distinction property). Like our other stays, we booked through the D-club rate and had a nice package (“romance package”) that included an Executive Suite room, chocolates, bath bomb, a lovely hand written card, $100NZD food/beverage credit, parking and breakfast. Room: Executive Suite 609 big room with couch and huge bathroom (gigantic stand alone bathtub + separate shower, shampoo/conditioner/bath gel/lotion), washer and dryer (detergent provided). The room included a wet bar with sink, some basic kitchen cutlery/dinnerware, Nespresso machine + pods, microwave and refrigerator. Bed was super comfortable and we slept well. Food: We had drinks and dinner at the bar. All was good. My only suggestion is that the lighting sort of makes you feel like you are in a cafeteria - maybe install some less bright overhead lighting to provide a more relaxing experience in the evening. Lovely spread at breakfast with all sorts of choices. We came after the tour groups and everything was replenished and fresh. Location: Right in the heart of Dunedin. Walkable to everywhere. Easy access in/out of town on State Highway 1. Staff: Wonderful. Distinction Hotels should be so proud of their staff. Every employee we came across (front desk, bar, restaurant and across three different hotels in 3 cities) was professional, helpful and kind. Bottom line: Would definitely stay again.

“Great location nice room”

Great location to nearby restaurants with friendly and helpful staff. Clean room with small washer & dryer in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay but small sterno cans unable to keep the heated foods hot. Scrambled eggs were cold. Nice fitness center with multiple machines and battle ropes.

“Well located with decent sized rooms”

Well located hotel with good sized rooms and decent food - especially the breakfast. Staff are friendly. Must visit the Duke of Wellington pub which is very close during your stay for a great old fashioned British pub atmosphere.
