During the Yuletide season, it's difficult to get good accommodation in Calabar if you don't book early ahead. With an influx of international and local tourists into the city to be part of "Africa's Biggest Street Party," it's not hard to see why this is so. However, with Carnival Calabar not held for the second year in a row due to Covid-19, the city was less frenetic as it should have been this period. I spent 3 nights at Axari Hotels & Suites and I can say, it was a good experience. The property has great facilities. The staff was friendly. The ambience was neat and serene. 24hr power supply. It was a great experience.

“Like a family ”

Looking at the hotel from the outside gives the impression of a not too good hotel but once inside, the ambience, decor and aesthetics are pleasing to the body and soul(hotel should do something about the outside painting). Looking at the hotel from the outside gives the impression of a not too good hotel but once inside, the ambience, decor and aesthetics are pleasing to the body and soul(hotel should do something about the outside painting). The staff are pleasant especially when engaged and they are willing to help. The facilities comprise a nice swimming pool and pool bar with outside sitting, a gym (that has seen better days) a restaurant with continental menu. The food is well prepared. There is 24hrs power supply and Wi-Fi is available and fast though cuts off intermittently. Parking space is available in 2 areas. There is a conference/events/church centre behind the expansive hotel. The rooms are spacious enough though some of the wooden bits of furniture seems to be falling apart. The bathroom is good, hot and cold water available. Branded toileteries. There is complimentary tea/coffee and the rooms have electric kettles. All In all a good hotel that I will definitely visit repeatedly

Easily one of the older hotels in Calabar, it is quite spacious in and out with lush grounds. Unique African artwork is all over the reception as you walk in. There is a swimming pool and adjoining bar close to a large fitness room. However age is telling on the facility. Sanitary fittings are visibly old while there are plumbing defects with wet floor from the bath tub of my room. Wifi exists but very weak and failing. The restaurant meals are good. Sleep quality was quite good save for the incessant power outages and subsequent change-overs to generators. There are a couple of meeting/function rooms. A good place in Calabar despite the flaws.
