We recently stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Alesund on our first trip to Norway. I had debated between Hotel Brosundet and Hotel 1904 and I'm so glad I went with Brosundet. I'm even happier that I decided to book a junior suite. The hotel's location is perfect, right on the water, and the staff were amazing, very friendly and welcoming. I contacted the hotel a few days before our arrival to request a water view since I understood the junior suites can have different views. They confirmed my request and I honestly feel like we ended up with one of the best rooms in the hotel (room #4). Our room was on the lower level, which actually made the experience even better. The sitting area had a large sliding window looking directly out onto the water. Boats and paddleboarders were constantly passing by and we loved just sitting on the sofa watching everything outside. The room itself was very comfortable. I was a little worried about the lack of air conditioning, but even in August the temperature was never uncomfortable. The bathroom was a bit small, but considering this is an older property that was converted into a hotel, I understand some of the design limitations. Breakfast each morning was good, although after 3 days I did wish they rotated some of the options instead of serving exactly the same things each morning. The breakfast restaurant also serves dinner in the evening. We didn't eat there, but there seemed to be a lot of fish being prepared and at times the smell carried into the lobby. That's probably the one thing I would suggest the hotel look into. Those are both relatively minor points though. Overall, we had a great stay. The location, staff and especially our room overlooking the water made this a memorable introduction to Norway. I would absolutely recommend Hotel Brosundet to anyone staying in Alesund.

“Fantastic location”

Located right in the heart of Alesund with the Art Nouveau Museum, 2mins walk away. Set by the Wharf which was beautiful. Great breakfast. Good for dinner too and reasonable prices but not huge menu.

The hotel's location in Bergen is perfect. I was able to enjoy the colourful, lively and picturesque view across the water, while being only a couple of minutes from the bridge and the centre. The hotel is uniquely attractive, largely built of wood, with a lovely style. There is a 'however'. That same quirky delight means some odd configurations, and the hotel is in two buildings. The main problem is getting your luggage to your room, depending on where it is. There are lifts but they are separate, with a very disjointed walk between, and some stairs. For an older person, this is a problem. I would suggest that they offer help and have someone on hand with anyone looking older or less able. The rooms and bathrooms are also quirky shapes. My stay on the way, the room posed some small inconveniences, on the way back? Perfect. Beautifully decorated and clean. Breakfast was all you could wish for and I also ate in their delightful restaurant which, while expensive (like all of Norway!) was delicious. The service was exceptional, friendly, informative and very helpful. I had awkward requests re pillows, laundry and leaving baggage which they took in their stride, with a smile and great efficiency. I would certainly return!
