We could not speak more highly of this apartment. Beautiful light filled, nicely furnished and fitted out studio apartment situated 5 minutes from city centre and in the middle of lovely old buildings and cobbled streets. And very well priced. I can’t believe someone complained about having to make your own bed! High quality linen provided, bed making no big deal. Also had a washing machine (desperately needed after 5 weeks of travelling), dishwasher, well equipped kitchen. Short but steep set of stairs to the first floor but well worth the small effort. Excellent communication from the owners, check in and check out very straightforward. Overall we were so happy that we had a couple of nights in this place.

The 2 bedded apartment on the ground floor is compact and bijou. Very well equipped kitchen and living space. The double bed is between two walls, no space either side which made making the bed, which I had to do on arrival, a bit of a challenge. Certainly not suitable for a less nimble person. T… more

The 2 bedded apartment on the ground floor is compact and bijou. Very well equipped kitchen and living space. The double bed is between two walls, no space either side which made making the bed, which I had to do on arrival, a bit of a challenge. Certainly not suitable for a less nimble person. There are steep steps up to the main door, which is very heavy and opened outwards. Lovely shower, but sink is tiny, made it very difficult for washing your face, or my partner shaving. It is tastefully decorated. We were there in unusually hot weather and a fan would have been useful as you can leave the windows open overnight, only slightly ajar. Location is great, 10 minute walk to the main Quay area with shops and restaurants. A short walk from the apartment are shops and a very nice Thai restaurant and takeaway

Before writing about anything else, the biggest issue to be considered with these apartments is the stairs. These apartments are in a beautiful but old building . Before writing about anything else, the biggest issue to be considered with these apartments is the stairs. These apartments are in a beautiful but old building . If you have a ground floor apartment you need only negotiate 3 stone steps up to the front door. If 1st floor, think lighthouse spiral staircase with half size treads. So long as you’re fully mobile, sure of foot and capable of carrying your bags you’ll have no problem. If not, make sure you have the physical ability to access the apartment you book or you might be in trouble. On to the positives, location is great – 10 minute walk from the Hurtigruten terminal, 15 from town centre, trams and buses and 20 from the railway station. Space is limited, but well laid out. More than enough space for 2 people without being too cramped. Bathroom is good with a decent shower, well fitted kitchen with enough equipment for a short stay. Plenty of local supermarkets and safe baggage storage before or after check in/out. Overall, we were very happy with our short stay at Barfot and would consider staying again on our return to Bergen.
