“Enjoyable Stay”

My wife and I spent a night here. The hotel is located on the water at the opposite end of town from the Hurtigruten dock. The town is small, though, so it’s only a 10-minute walk to the boat dock. (Note that there is another Scandic hotel, Scandic Honningsvag, near the port.) We were able to get early check-in around 11:30 which was a huge help. The front desk woman was friendly and helped schedule a taxi for us. We had a superior room which had an average size bedroom and a somewhat small bathroom. It was clean and everything worked. WiFi was good but the tv didn’t work well. After the tv was on for a few minutes, it would have buffering issues every few seconds. It was largely unwatchable. I mentioned the problem to the front desk and she said someone would follow-up. I’m guessing that it’s a system-wide issue as the problem continued. Breakfast was very good. It didn’t open on weekdays until 8:00, though, which is awfully late. (Not sure about their weekend hours.) Overall we liked the hotel. I would have given it a 5 if the tv had worked.

“A decent hotel, but take care of the car park.”

Room. The room was quite small however there was enough room for a family of three there were two single beds and a comfortable sofa bed. In addition there was a small desk and a chair. Room. The room was quite small however there was enough room for a family of three there were two single beds and a comfortable sofa bed. In addition there was a small desk and a chair. The bathroom had a step which was about 6 inches higher than the floor of the room. This may make it difficult with somebody with mobility issues. The bathroom was clean and well presented. The Wi-Fi was strong and reliable and bit of dropped during our stay. Public areas were warm and welcoming. Tea and coffee were available at all times in the lobby area. The breakfast room was well laid out. Reception. Upon entering the hotel, there was a warm greeting by the receptionist who explained where everything was and how to get drinks at night. Parking was free at the hotel however the car park was unmade and apparently belonged to the city. Cars were parked, in no particular order. It should be pointed out that there was no evening meal available at the hotel. This though may be different during high season. Breakfast was served downstairs. There was a good choice of hot and cold meals. The breakfast staff were attentive. If I were in the area again, I would most definitely stay at this hotel.

Scandic number 2 on our trip, better than the first, but not the greatest, the reception was ok, friendly and quick, even with a few of us waiting to be served, and again happy to assist when we were asking questions about what was about in the town, with maps available and info given. The rooms were not huge, and quite basic, the view from our room was less than impressive, a rubble car park, the bathroom was small but clean and tidy, and everything worked, there was no blackout curtains, considering that there is 24 hour daylight, we assumed, incorrectly that there would be blackout curtains to aid sleep. Breakfast was ok, plenty of it, and a decent variety of foods, we id not eat in the hotel and from memory we never saw anyone actually eat in, if they do that, reception was open quite late, and when we got back from visiting the Nordkapp at around 1am there was still staff on duty.
