My wife and I booked to stay here from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 March. This was certainly a great move on our part as the place is simply superb. Check-in and Check-out for us was painless and quick. The service from all members of staff was excellent and its hard to find any genuine fault. We only ate here for breakfast and these are one of the best breakfasts we had experienced. The choice is overwhelming and there is something for everyone to enjoy. We had freshly cooked omelettes each morning and the array of other hot food was vast. Small potatoes, sausages, baked beans, hash browns, crispy bacon and the list just goes on. Then there was an abundance of pastries, breads, cheese's, meats and much much more. We had fresh orange juice everyday. The fruit selection was also amazing. Note they have a sign up asking you not to take any food from the breakfast area which is fair enough. Our room 524 was very compact and even on the small side. My wife struggled to get around the far side of the bed as the space is very limiting. The only real negative we found is there are absolutely no draw spaces anywhere? You basically have to live out of your suitcase. The wardrobe is literally 6 inches deep and you can hang up max two items. There are some shelving in the bathroom but that's it so pack lightly 🙂. The shower was excellent but the sink has no plug facility so not as easy to shave as you cant put water in the sink to use as it flows away. The bathroom door is an obscure glass and the toilet is literally next to this. The rooms were very clean and we experienced no noise issues at all. Great idea at saving space in the rooms as all the main bedroom doors open outwards on to a large landing area. The room has all you could want with mini-bar, kettle, ironing board, iron, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facility. We used to get milk from downstairs near reception and put in our fridge for tea in the morning. Where the milk can be collected there are water facilities so if you bring a bottle with you its possible to top up from here every night. If you want ice the bar will give you a glass to take back to your room as the ice making facilities on each floor do not work. At reception there is an easy facility to book local Tromso Taxis and this is excellent. We would highly recommend this place as its location next to the port and town is just brilliant. Just a note of real caution on drinks prices at the hotel in the bar. We ordered up two 0.4 litre glasses of 1664 Blanc beer (lager), these cost us 310 Nok Kr, which is £24 sterling!!!! 😩😒👎We never bought another drink at the bar after that. You can go out in to the town and get much better prices. Having said all the positives and negatives we would still highly recommend and would stay here again ourselves. Enjoy your stay.

Literally had a not very warm review written up but I need to give credit to Andrea at Clarion The Edge who kind of made my day just now. This trip has been testing my patience dealing with airlines cancellations, delayed bags, and now today an overbooked flight leaving us with nowhere to go for a few hours in the wind and rain in Tromso. Admittedly, I was a bit snippy in my requests at this point but after learning about out situation, Andrea has went out of her way to accommodate us with a place so that we don't have to sit in the lobby with nothing to do. She definitely brought some light heartedness to the situation, fed me a chocolate, and made me laugh with her quips. Andrea just shines! My review of the property itself still stands true. The property needs to be updated with modern conveniences like a phone so guests do not have to drag themselves down for every little thing. There's supposedly a QR code you scan but it still doesn't have any options to request anything unless you call the international telephone number. Some of us don't have a sim that works everywhere and honestly a property advertised as 4 stars should not be cost cutting here. Also, charging for room slippers and renting out bathrobes is tacky. I'm understanding Tromso is historically not a tourist town but I'm not staying at an Airbnb/vrbo here, I like proper hotels because the little stuff is just a part of the hotel stay experience. Highlight would be their breakfast. Staff here are efficient in keeping everything stocked and everything felt very fresh and delicious. Many options to choose from to satisfy most palettes I think. All in all, they are very well located, especially next to my favorite coffee shop, but it's the little things that create guest comfort, without feeling like everything involves a monetary transaction, that counts.
