“Nice experience”

This hotel is a little bit outside the city center. Room was fine, but the cost of breakfast was high. View from the 11th floor was amazing. Louisa and Caroline were super helpful and so was the manager Pedro. I would stay at this hotel again if I return to Tromsø!

I stayed here on my way out of town after a ski trip to Uløya. The room was great and had everything anticipated. I stayed here on my way out of town after a ski trip to Uløya. The room was great and had everything anticipated. The bar and view of the airport, water, and mountains was a fantastic backdrop for a cocktail. The food menu and quality left a bit to be desired. The bar keep was young and clearly uninterested in having a job. "This is my happy face" with a smug look in response to my "how are you?". For the price, service should include nothing but smiles and cheer. All together the experience was fine. I would stay again on my way out of town but would choose other hotels closer to town for any extended stay.

“Well placed between airport and Tromsø - and solid bathroom doors!”

Too Long Didn’t Read / TLDR: This is an ideal hotel for staying in Tromsø, even though it is quite expensive. You’re close enough to the centre by bus, close enough to the airport by bus, but there are still amenities surrounding you. The breakfast was excellent, the staff friendly, and the rooms exactly what you would expect from a Moxy. - The Good; They gave us a lovely gift celebrating the trip reason which was so sweet of them (and an amazing picture of the northern lights drawn on the mirror!) Welcome gift for platinum/titanium is breakfast for up to two, daily - and an excellent breakfast it was - more on this shortly. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and kind. There is a supermarket open til 11 next door and a large shopping centre/mall a few mins walk away in case you’ve forgotten anything for your trip. The bar area does food, but there is also a Burger King and an excellent Pizza place called Peppes (a Norwegian chain) round the corner near the supermarket. For the Bonvoy stans, the bathroom door is a solid wooden door, no clear glass here! Also, it had under floor heating in the bathroom. Five Wits provide the toiletries which are excellent, and I think the best toiletries in the Marriott chain portfolio now. They smell great! The bar area is amazing, the views, board games, foosball, pool, it’s massive - it even has a small roof terrace to get even better views of outside. And I haven't mentioned the *massive* windows so you get such an incredible sense of where you are. The breakfast was brilliant - it had a lot of stuff, including my favourite brown cheese / brunost! Everything was really tasty, and constantly refreshed by staff. There was also a huge range of cereals, and the famous Moxy donuts! There is a bus stop directly outside that gets you into town, and the bus to the airport is a very short walk to the local bus terminal. 
- The Not So Good: Whenever someone leaves a room nearby the door slams shaking the whole room. I discovered in the morning that the walls are paper thin or we had incredibly loud neighbours, as I could hear the guy next door watching Instagram or TikTok reels like it was in the room. - The Weird: The temp controls are basically just an indicator. If you want it warmer, leave the bathroom door open. Colder, open the window. There was some weird rules in the hotel about not cooking, which I didn't quite understand. I'm not sure how you would cook in the room, but I guess there must have been enough incidents! I was scared to even bring back crisps - and certainly not a pizza / burger king! - The Practicals the windows open and Mobile Phone reception on Telenor and Telia are 2 bars and 4 bars of 4G respectively. Even for a Moxy the room is unusually sparse of ameneties, with no kettle. Considering the price, and comparing it to the half a dozen or so different Moxy hotels I’ve stayed in very recently, it was quite a shock. For those who are regular readers, this is a Type-A or classic, Moxy, eg. It has the hangy up cage thing, comfy bed chair etc. Despite the breakfast being excellent, it’s really busy. Lots of tour group / coach party types, just shoving you about and folk generally being quite rude and demanding to the friendly staff. At least on my trips to the breakfast area. In Summary: I would absolutely return, simply because the location is useful, the staff are great, the bed was comfy and the breakfast plentiful. If there was a way to get (free) tea and coffee in the room, it would be a five.

“Nice view from reception”

Nice new hotel. Cosy top floor reception. A bit messy and confusing when the reception that also is the bar and restaurant has a lot of guests wanting attention. Rock hard beds. Very nice design in the rooms. Less than standard breakfast.
