From the moment we booked until our departure, everything was wonderful. The location is perfect for getting away from the main town of Tromsø and the crowds of tourism, while still feeling comfortable and well cared for. We booked a Deluxe Cabin with a river view and couldn’t have asked for more. The view was absolutely fantastic, with the aurora dancing above our heads on most nights and no light pollution to spoil the experience. What we loved most was the peaceful location, the friendly and helpful staff, the excellent breakfast, the well-stocked mini shop, and the cabin itself—spotlessly clean, warm, and beautifully maintained. The facilities were great, and the overall atmosphere was calm, cozy, and relaxing. During our last two days, my husband became unwell, and the staff were incredibly accommodating and supportive. I am very grateful for their kindness, as it made our stay far less stressful. His illness was in no way related to the lodge or our accommodation. A few small things we felt could be improved: a mat by the door leading in from the decking would be helpful to reduce the risk of slipping in snowy conditions, and some kind of boot brush near the main door would be useful for brushing off excess snow before coming inside. A few additional utensils suitable for use with the microwave would also be appreciated. The beds are small single beds, although we understand space is limited in the bedrooms. A small side table or shelf beside the bed would be very helpful for placing items such as glasses or other valuables, as otherwise they need to be placed on the floor. I was especially concerned about damaging my glasses, which I rely on. We were also led to believe the bus stop was closer. For anyone with mobility or walking impairments, taxis would likely be necessary. I have a spinal condition and found the walk to the bus stop too far and quite challenging due to the steep road and snow-covered pathway, which meant walking on the road at times. However, these are only minor observations and did not detract from what was otherwise a truly memorable stay that we would happily recommend.

We had a great stay at Tromso Camping and Lodges the weekend before Christmas. We stayed in one of the lodges which faced the local football ground. We couldn’t understand why the lodge was not facing towards the beautiful mountains instead. We didn’t arrive until 20:30. Check in was prompt and we reached our lodge by foot within seconds. The lodges are spacious and clean. We had to make up the sofa bed but this was absolutely fine. Breakfast was plentiful and didn’t get too busy. On our second night my daughter was very unwell and subsequently vomited all over the bedding. Reception were amazing in the morning and took the dirty linen away and gave us fresh, along with a card and chocolate for the children. Such a very kind gesture. The only downside for us is also the biggest positive, which is the location. We aren’t big users of public transport so we spent a fortune on taxis, however this was something we budgeted for so please bear this in mind as it’s out of the way. You can walk everywhere but it was also incredibly icy and we lost multiple pairs of spikes! A special mention to Frida, who was so welcoming and went the extra mile to make our stay special.

We had an excellent stay for three nights in October. The accommodation was spacious enough for three adults, clean, and very comfortable. The heated floors were a huge bonus and especially appreciated during the colder autumn weather. We also had a strong, reliable Wi-Fi connection, which made the stay even more convenient. The location was ideal, about a 10-minute walk to the bus stop and roughly a 10-minute ride into town. There’s also a lovely stream on-site, which was perfect for enjoying a quiet morning coffee and easing into the day. The absolute highlight was seeing the Northern Lights two nights in a row, right from our cabin porch and driveway an unforgettable and magical experience. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and the overall stay was comfortable and easy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tromsø, especially if seeing the aurora is on your list.

Just my opinion: I paid 4270 NOK for one night, and honestly, I felt like I got my money’s worth… if my definition of worth is “a bed, a view, and a lot of rules.” Location: If you’re a solo traveler without a car, good luck. The city center is far, there are zero restaurants nearby, and the resort restaurant closes at 3 pm. It’s perfect if you’re into early dinners, I guess. Service: The lady at reception was “nice enough,” which is a step up from my previous place in Tromsø. But there’s no bellboy, no one to show you to your cabin, you’re basically on your own. In most places, paying 4270 NOK per night would get you service fit for a queen. Here, it gets you… independence. Room: The room is small and tidy. There’s a tiny kitchen if you feel like cooking your own food (fun!). The bed is comfortable, and the balcony view is gorgeous. So at least some things are worth Instagramming. A bath mat and slippers would’ve been a nice touch, but who needs those things when you paid over 4000 NOK? Overall experience: 5/10. Nothing special. But hey, if you’ve got money to burn and enjoy figuring things out yourself, this place is perfect.
