Had been wanting to reserve at this hotel for awhile, and finally did it! Planned for days before a holiday and when schools were on vacation as we knew there would be lots of families with children on those days, which we try to avoid as we have more flexibility. Hotel was beautiful except for some dry áreas in front of the garden view rooms. We had an ocean view room on 1st floor, which was so peaceful. Great place to watch the sunset. Room was very spacious and comfortable, with a microwave and mini fridge. Loved the extra soft robes! Service staff were all so friendly and accomadating. Food was excellent; we chose to order off the menu instead of breakfast buffet which turned out to be best option for us as the buffet would have been too much food for us. Pizza was delicious! A little disappointed that the pool was not heated but atleast there is a hot tub for adults that is quite large. Parents: please respect the life guard and rules. No kids in the hot tub! All in all, a lovely hotel. We've been to all 4 or 5 star hotels in this area and this is now our favorite. We hope to return.

Stayed for about 10 days working remotely (from the US). We had an ocean view suite which was nicely updated and had a lovely view from our balcony. The room was spacious and there was a door between the bedroom and main room. There was also a refrigerator and microwave, which was a pleasant surprise. The cleaning staff were very helpful and took great care of our room. The food here was excellent and honestly stood up well to the world- class food we enjoyed in Lima. The service at the restaurants was very friendly. 10 or 20 soles goes a long way - since this is not a tipping culture it seems to be greatly appreciated. The staff speak limited English but the menu does have English translations. The pool and grounds are well-maintained, especially considering the huge bird population in the area. Be aware there is technically a beach, but it feels more like a lagoon or lake. It's great for enjoying the wildlife and kayaking, not so much for swimming. The hotel is well located, about 5 min drive to town and the preserve entrance. I did not give 5 stars due to the fact that this is a Hyatt resort, which creates the expectation that the staff will speak at least some English, the wifi will work, and you'll be able to charge things to your room so you don't have to carry your valuables around with you. We have stayed in Hyatt properties in Asia and the Middle East and never encountered the issues we had here. This is not a personal criticism of the staff, they were kind and did their best, but the only staff who could communicate in English were the front desk. The wifi was also very unreliable and the hotel had some unusual policies I've never encountered elsewhere in Peru or other international hotels. First, we were required to wear plastic bracelets for our entire stay despite the fact that it was not all-inclusive. Second, they were very inconsistent in their payment policies. Occasionally we would be permitted to charge to our room, but generally they would demand we pay by card despite wearing the bracelets and giving our room number. This policy even applied at the bar in the pool - they made us go get our card and literally bring it into the pool. They would also randomly ask for our passport number when we settled our bill. Giving a random string of numbers seemed to satisfy this requirement though. They also were extremely protective of their pool towels. On our first day (around 10am on a Saturday), I located the towel storage cleverly disguised as a bar/game room. I was informed they were "out of towels" and I would have to wait 20 minutes at least. The towels never arrived and I ended up just using bath towels from my room. The next Saturday, armed with my knowledge of the secret towel location, I requested 2 towels, showed my bracelet and gave my room number. The roughly 5 staff members conferred among themselves and told me I had to give them a card to get towels. I explained I was not going to pay for towels. They said no, it's a ticket I had to get from the front desk. Then another staff member walked over, asked my room number, and handed me two towels, no problem. The others all scowled at her as if she had done something wrong by giving pool towels to a paying guest. In general, it was a lovely hotel, but I really can't recommend it if you don't speak at least basic Spanish or if you need wifi. Or if you don't want to swim with your credit card.
