“Nice spot”

Very nice and chill hotel... very clean, the rooms are huge. Great pool and you can access the seawater pool too, but they should include a bar/restaurant inside, cause there is nothing around. It is no a big deal cause taxi will cost around 2 euros, but it would improve the place.

Apart from room and pool that's all it is . Stayed here 5 nights and had to use hotel Dusit Thani next door to eat and drink and was quite expensive. Had to keep on phoning reception for housekeeping, water , coffee , towels etc cos no one came to our room . It's a nice place but don't believe what you read about it there is nothing here , will not return

“What you pay is what you get ”

Coral Point Gardens is situated to the end of Mactan. It’s location is remote with only a few other hotels nearby. The nearest shopping mall is 30 minutes away at the Island Central Mall. Traffic depending, Cebu City is 1 hour away by taxi, fares vary but jump in a jeepney and have it all by yourself at half the price of a taxi. Some taxi drivers cannot be trusted as fares vary-money driven. Coral Point Gardens is spilt into two hotels, the most exorbitant by the sea and the other across the road. The well turned out security guards control anyone who wish to use either hotel. The hotel not by the sea has two swimming pools, one for the children and the main pool. The rooms are comfortable and WIFI is temperamental. There is a tiny little restaurant where you can order from a select menu and it closes at 9pm. You can order alcohol, however if they had a bar-this would be better even though it is a tiny hotel with approximately 22 rooms. The bar could act as a focal point once the night settles in and the pool is no longer in use. The reception and restaurant staff are very friendly and will try to accommodate any requests, wants or needs. The adjacent hotel has a swimming pool by the sea with several sun loungers. The area could do with a bit of TLC, concrete paved areas have cracked and in some parts resemble if an earthquake had just struck. If there were SUP’s available this could also enhance the area especially as there is a slipway. Kayaks are available but for use only at high tide, and appear to be kept out of sight so not to draw any wanted attention. The surrounding areas are that of poverty. The local populace appeared friendly although I wouldn’t recommend straying off the main road. On our 8th day, we were notified of a disco that had already started with regards to a local festival. Normally this happens to the far end of a piece of adjacent scrubland. On this occasion, it was next door to our hotel. The subsequent noise resulted in the room vibrating and nothing else could be heard. I spoke to the organisers of the disco and sighted a permit stating it would end at 00.00 (midnight) even though we had been told it would end at 01:00. In actual fact it ended at 01:30. By then we had tried numerous times to be moved to another hotel, complain, ask to speak to the duty manager and supervisor-all fell flat. Those on duty that night were apologetic but couldn’t do anything, without authorisation from higher authority. The police did arrive but only asked them to turn the noise down. As soon as the police had left-the noise became even louder. The police were useless especially as it had gone midnight ignoring what was said on the permit. People need to ask if 118.2 decibels is acceptable? If you are planning on coming to Coral Point, don’t stay on the weekend of 26 May-unless you don’t like sleeping. On an environmental note, the tidal lagoon can often be sighted with rubbish. Swim away a metre or two beyond the lagoons and more litter awaits you. Raise a complaint but nobody seems to care. The rubbish we collected varied from used diapers to lots of plastic of various kinds. The complaint I made, I was greeted with a nose picking security guard-armed with a red note book, but failed to make any notes. The rubbish remained where we had left it-on the wall of the lagoon. The cleaner was apparently on there break-must of been siesta time. At low tide a beach clean could be conducted at least in some way to lessen the damage that is being done to the marine habitat. Most of the hotels should have a beach clean especially if they are built on the land that entices guests to a sea view. New hotels are being built nearby and if Coral is to survive it will have to provide other services such as a courtesy bus for guests whom would otherwise rely on outside services. Overall Coral Point, is a great little hotel off the main beaten tourist path. Away from the airport it can be quiet and it has huge potential for it’s size. Depending on your budget it may for some be a 10/10 - what you pay for is what you get, however for me I rate it as 5/10 as there is always room for improvement.
