From the moment you step through its doors, you understand that you are no longer just a traveller passing through one of Europe's most storied port cities. You are a guest of honour at a riverside cathedral of comfort, and Gdansk — ancient, proud, impossibly beautiful — is yours. THE ARCHITECTURE The building itself is a statement of intent. A unique facade of glass, handmade red brick, and local limestone rises in a succession of faux pointed forms (Oyster) — a nod to the Gothic grandeur of the Old Town while unmistakably, thrillingly modern. THE FOOD & DRINK The in-house Mercato restaurant is a winner of numerous, well-deserved awards — widely considered one of the best restaurants in Gdansk, serving slow food based on local, seasonal ingredients in surprising and always delightful compositions. This stay genuinely exceeded my expectations. Considering the relatively compact footprint of the hotel, what Hilton Gdansk has achieved is seriously impressive — spacious rooms, some with balconies, an excellent rooftop, great service throughout, and even an open-air pool, which is still quite rare by both Polish and broader European city hotel standards. The built-in Chromecast TVs, magnetic chargers in the room, quality materials, carpeting, bathroom design and overall bed comfort all made the hotel feel extremely refined and well thought out. The food deserves a separate mention entirely. From breakfast to soups, lunch and dinner, this was honestly one of the best culinary hotel experiences I have had in years. What also stood out was the atmosphere among the staff. Everyone seemed calm, confident and natural rather than stressed, which created a genuinely high-level ambience throughout the property. A special thank you to Roksana at reception and Anastazja at the bar. Both showed real ownership mentality and made hassle-free decisions for me that many hotels unfortunately overcomplicate today. That level of intuitive hospitality genuinely impressed me. And finally — the location is simply exceptional.

“Great hotel in excellent location.”

Excellent hotel in a superb location by the river and within easy reach of the Old Town. Our room was very clean and well equipped. The buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choice for all tastes.

This is my second stay at this hotel; it has been renovated and remains ideally located. I am giving a five-star rating for cleanliness, food quality, and the check-in/check-out process. I also really liked their little automated robot that clears away dirty dishes—it adds an undeniable touch of modernity! However, I believe the quality of service could still be improved—specifically regarding assistance for guests who did not receive their luggage upon landing at Gdańsk Airport. I felt the staff were resigned to this issue and showed little concern for truly looking after guests for whom this constitutes a serious problem (but the same staff put some effort on selling me a better room!). I imagine that missing luggage is a recurring issue and that the hotel has eventually grown accustomed to it; however, one must not forget that for an individual guest, this is an exceptional occurrence. The role of a hotelier is to put themselves in the guest's shoes; in my case, this did not happen, so I am therefore giving a rating of four stars.
