“Easy uncomplicated”

The people here are very nice, helpful and uncomplicated. The room was ok for this budget. We stayed 1 night, which was good. So good value. Parking in the vicinity as are cafe's. Walking distance to the centre. free WiFi.

I spend just one night but I can say that was good for the prize , and will recommend for overnight. The personal nice And helpful English Portuguese speaking . Kitchen clean and toilet . No problems . Located in center need just fev min walk to center or bus stop. Close to continental shop .

The main positive point is definitely how cheap it is. It is well located, on the city center and walking distance from the old town, and the rooms are quite charming. It is also, however, quite run down: if you open a cabinet door, you might see that door detached from the cabinet; at one point we ran out of hot water; the heating wasn't very effective (although the room wasn't freezing either). Overall, if on a budget, I would recommend.

“Good value for the price”

I made my reservation through the hotel website without a glitch and received confirmation within 48 hours. I had reserved a single room (the 2nd cheapest) and was assigned quite a spacious one for that category on the 1st floor. While by no means luxurious, it was clean and the furniture was in good condition. The bed was reasonably comfortable, with two pillows and extra blanket. In the corner, there was a sink and a bidet. Plain white towels and soap were available. The room had no phone or t.v. but the wi-fi worked fine all the time. As for sound-proofing, well, from the hallway, I could hear the t.v. from one of my neighbours quite clearly, but once in my room, with the door shut, I could barely make it out (and it was fairly loud). The double windows also shut out most of the street noise. At the time of my stay, there was some heavy construction on the street but it stopped in the evening. Note that there is no air-conditioning. Two bathrooms were just across the hallway. One was spacious but had a window that opened directly into the back hallway (you just had to close it). The other was smaller and had no window. Both bathrooms were reasonably clean (a little bit of mildew in some corners in one of them). The kitchen offered basic utensils, a stove, a microwave and a fridge, and, further down the hall, a dining space with a t.v., a few small tables and chairs. Across the street, a supermarket and a pastry shop offered enough of a selection to prepare a simple breakfast and supper (the hotel does not offer breakfast). Otherwise, there were plenty of restaurants in the area. The hotel is located in the commercial part of the town, midway between the train station Coimbra-A and the bus terminal. The train station Coimbra-B is a bit further but still reachable on foot. Attractions such as the Sé and University are about a 10-15 min-walk away, most of it uphill. In summary, this hotel offers a decent bed for a decent price. The staff was polite and helpful and I really appreciated the kitchen access. My only problem was the locked front door when I arrived late morning to drop my suitcase. There was a note posted on the door with a phone number to call but if, like me, you do not own a cell phone, this might prove a bit awkward. I realise this is a small budget hotel with limited staff, but maybe a phone/intercom could be installed somewhere close or an arrangement made with a nearby shop? Otherwise, for the price, I have no complaints.
