We stayed three nights at the hotel Borges Chiado The staff were welcoming and helpful the room was clean and comfortable booked via blueseaholidays who I can recommend ) with the breakfast being excellent The only issues I would call out are ... the key had to be refreshed at reception almost every time it was used ... the room had no windows that were outward facing the view was of internal courtyard and fire escape ... no power supply adjacent to the desk # ... wifi not operational most of the time Would happily recommend the hotel that is located centrally in Lisbon we will absolutely use again when we next visit Lisbon The trip was part of a multi centre holiday ... We had flown in from the UK to porto .... leaving Porto via São Bento we took the train to Lisbon (Santa Apolonia) then the metro to Baixa-Chiado - 2 stops – tap on / off metro with credit card – leave via R. Garrett exit taking the escalator(s) to the exit adjacent to the hotel ... finally then a train to Faro – from Sete Rios – accessed via the metro from Baixa-Chiado to Jardim Zoologico two mins walk to Sete Rios ... both train rides delivering incredible value at 12,5 euro each – book using cp.pt To eat locally to the hotel I can recommend ... for a burger and a beer ( turn right – then on second corner ) O Trevo ... for Italian ( turn right then fourth road on right) Limoncello ... for Portuguese ( turn right then third road on right) Cantinho das Gáveas day one was spent in Lisbon including ... Wandering the streets of the old town .... visit to castle and the national palace ... the took the modern tram 18e from the road outside Cais do Sodré station to the stop after Belam culture and Jerónimos Monastery - buy ticket on tram with credit card – then cross the road and over the railway bridge to visit ... .... Belan tower ... ... Padrão dos Descobrimentos ... ... and the Jerónimos Monastery Day two Sintra .... catch the train from Rossio ... then bus 434 the circular rout (One way) – driver takes credit card --- to visit ... ... Moorish Castle ( where you can buy tickets for all the attractions en rout) ... ... Pena Palace ... ... National Palace de Sintra .... ... historic old town

“Average hotel. Fantastic location.”

I will say that I was anxious after booking this hotel and reading the reviews on this, however, this hotel is fine with the potential to be excellent. The location is the selling point here so I think this is why they haven’t bothered to improve things, but with a bit of TLC it could be a bette... more

I will say that I was anxious after booking this hotel and reading the reviews on this, however, this hotel is fine with the potential to be excellent. The location is the selling point here so I think this is why they haven’t bothered to improve things, but with a bit of TLC it could be a better place to stay. The rooms are very average, and the walls desperately need a lick of paint and our tv was literally hanging off the wall when we arrived. The smell of sewerage throughout the hotel is putrid, but I found this in alot of places around Lisbon, not just at the hotel. There is a lounge/ gym area in the hotel that is wasted that could be used potentially as a bar or some type of area with a bit more life to it. Lastly, rooms are not sound proof, can hear everything outside and also from the room next door. Pack your earplugs or else request a room at the back of the hotel. Being honest, I don’t think I’d book this hotel again in a hurry, but it’s absolutely fine if you are just looking for somewhere to lay the head and get out and explore Lisbon.
