Our stay at Hotel da Baixa was excellent from start to finish. The service was warm, attentive, and consistently top-notch. We traveled as a family of three and booked the family room, which was an ideal setup for my husband, our late-teen daughter, and me. The two rooms are connected by a small private foyer, giving our daughter her own room, bathroom, and amenities while still feeling connected to us. Our room had a large balcony which was great. The rooms were comfortable, practical, and perfect for our stay. The rooms were spotless, well-appointed, and very comfortable, with lovely bedding and thoughtful amenities. I am particular about hotels, and Hotel da Baixa exceeded my expectations. The location is one of its biggest strengths. The hotel sits on a quiet, car-free street used only by the tram, offering a welcome sense of calm while still being incredibly central. We had considered several other beautiful hotels in Chiado and Bairro Alto, but many were located on much busier streets - as we walked past most of them. In a city as lively and tourist-filled as Lisbon, having a quieter place to return to each day made a real difference. Despite the peaceful setting, everything was close by. Just steps from the hotel, the surrounding side streets had plenty of energy, restaurants, and activity. Alfama, Chiado, and Avenida da Liberdade were all about a 10- to 15-minute walk away, so the city felt very easy to explore. There are also many beautiful restaurants within a five-minute walk. My advice: skip the restaurants in the main square where menus are pushed at you as you pass by. They felt far less authentic than the many better options nearby. I also highly recommend the two-hour guided tour offered by the hotel. It was time well spent. Pedro was fantastic—patient, funny, and extremely knowledgeable—and the tour ended with a lovely little surprise. You won’t be disappointed. Breakfast was convenient and fine, though not exceptional. The hotel offers made-to-order omelets and waffles, a large buffet, and champagne. So, it was about convenience and I think it was worth the money. The coffee/espresso/iced coffee was worth the cost. The lemonade, however, was genuinely outstanding—some of the best I’ve ever had. I know that sounds odd, but it's something about the lemonade in Portugal!!! Fresh juice, still and sparkling water, and coffee are also available throughout the day, which was a nice touch. There is also a lovely bar on property. The bartender is really good and it offers late night snacks. It was fun to end our evening having a glass of cocktail, glass of wine and a dessert. If you are wondering about using Uber, don’t worry—it was very easy. Drivers know exactly where to pick up guests, and when we used Uber during our stay, it was only about a two-minute walk to the main square pickup area. Upon arrival in Lisbon, we chose to use the hotel’s car service because, after a seven-hour flight, I did not want to navigate airport logistics or search for a rideshare. It was expensive, but worth it for the convenience and peace of mind. Treat yourself if that matters to you. For our return trip to the airport, once we understood how simple the Uber pickup process was, we used Uber without any issue—even with three midsize suitcases. The ride was roughly $24 USD compared with about $80 USD for the hotel car service. That said, I have no regrets about choosing the car service on arrival. The only negative was a 65 euro charge for early check-in, even if it was only 1-2 hours early. I didn’t love that especially if the room was available – of which both our rooms were available. We paid it because we wanted to get settled as we had an activity planned midday. That was my only issue with the hotel. Overall, you won’t go wrong booking this beautiful, boutique hotel. It was a great start to our 10-day trip.

I loved everything about Hotel Da Baixa. From the smiles at the front desk and the included breakfast to the cleanliness of the place and the services they offered. We particularly enjoyed the free tour to points of interests at walking distance from the hotel. Mr. Pedro was so knowledgeable, patient and attentive to all members of our family. The hotel is in a privileged location close to history, shopping, great food and a vibrant atmosphere.
