I nearly gave this an average rating, until I remembered what good value this place was. We stayed as a group of friends in April and if we repeated the trip, I’d not have a problem with staying here again. A few things that some people may want to consider ahead of booking, however: It is on a relatively busy street so you will get noise from cars, buses and trams. The security was a minor concern, you walk straight in off the street and the stairs are right in front of you, I was never challenged when walking in. The coffee at breakfast is pretty bad. That being said, it was perfect for our needs, the location was great and if you’re sharing the costs with friends (like we were) I think you’d struggle to find better value.

Pros Superior room with two opening windows Very kind helpful staff Room large airy high ceilings Good air conditioning Quite hotel Street noise goes away after 11pm Plug for charging right next to bed Great water pressure and plenty of hot water very quickly. Good safe. Luggage storage in secure area. Breakfast is bright clean plenty of space for early risers good coffee machine and hard working staff. Pastries were good But no healthy yogurt, only stale fruit And a pathetic toaster just passable Cons Mainly this is things that are wrong with European accommodation. Just travelled to Jordan, Cairo and Istanbul and did not encounter any of these niggles at this price point. Very minimal comforts in room. Fridge and kettle could not be plugged in at same time and plug at floor level. Tiny cups no saucers Cheap mattress Only a sheet on bed and a blanket on shelf. One tiny pillow and one hard one. You have to wait for clean towels till laundry comes back. One chair in room but nice little table. I am senior woman so will mention things I could not have managed without husband. Very high step in and out of bath from shower no safety rail. There is good elevator but does not go up to breakfast room so stairs a little tricky to come down. Railing on narrow side of stairs which are steep. Ok for the young

“Convenient location and wonderful staff”

Good location, within walking distance to tourist areas. Great customer service. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. We arrived before check-in time. Good location, within walking distance to tourist areas. Great customer service. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. We arrived before check-in time. When we returned to check-in, our luggage and carry-on were already in our room. Room was okay, provided drinking water, kettle and tea bags. Bedsheets looked very old. We were on top floor but still could hear traffic noise with windows closed. When we opened the windows for some fresh air, the traffic noise was so loud that we couldn’t hear the TV. No housekeeping on Sunday. Two bath towels and one towel were provided in bathroom. Every towel had stains on it. Shower curtain was filthy and way too long. Hand soap was mounted high on the wall. Wi-Fi was weak and sometimes could not connect.

Was very disappointed this time. Upgraded our room to a "premium" room, though there was nothing premium about it. The air conditioner didn't work. We complained multiple times, but it was not fixed. We were told when we checked out that the maintenance company had been called, but had not responded. The room was street-facing, and it was very noisy. We had a double room. However, there was only one chair in the room, and the table provided was small, full of hotel items like the coffee and water service, and had the refrigerator under the table. Therefore, we could not really use the table. All in all, it was a pretty disappointing stay. We had stayed in this hotel on our first visit to Lisbon 6 years ago and thought it was charming. Which is why we re-booked. Unfortunately, this experience was not so charming.
