Beautiful Hotel in Lisbon. Very unique style converted palace. Loved the design, decor and various levels. Stayed in one of the pool rooms and could see the port and the river by the pool. The staff were so accommodating and brought everything to the room. Room was spacious, beautiful & clean. Breakfast freshly made to order and best of anywhere I’ve ever had in a hotel. The area is old Lisbon and part of one of the coolest neighborhoods with wine bars and restaurants to explore. Safely away from tourist traps. Check out Insaciável, Taberna de Esperança & Familjen in the evening. Highly recommend this Hotel x

“Not a Bad Stay, But Not a Five-Star One”

Wanted to love this place. After 5 nights, left underwhelmed, not just because this is not the advertised 5* but because they aren’t even pulling their standards to what one would expect from a true boutique hotel. Globally: while ambience inside and out is genuinely beautiful, and most of the staff is exceptional, there are some surprising drawbacks that currently make it not quite worth the money. There is effectively no properly staffed front-facing operation, and it often feels like one or two people are trying to run the entire property, juggling everything from serving drinks from the otherwise unmanned bar to handling guest issues. Communication is largely handled through WhatsApp, which works well when messages are actually seen. It generally seems they are understaffed, especially at breakfast, which was overall good, but took ages, likely due to the above. The internet is serviceable for basics throughout the property, but could be better, especially for remote workers. And as others have said: there are a lot of steep stairs, low doorways, and obviously no lifts. So, a good Lisbon workout. Pros: The building and courtyards feel authentic to an old grand Lisbon home rather than a manufactured luxury concept. The pool was clean but outdoor furniture needs maintenance. Breakfast is mostly very nice, and the beautiful bougainvillea vines of the courtyards come closest to delivering the luxury yet super cozy atmosphere. Most importantly, Alice and especially Bruno and Subash were very helpful and genuinely cared to make us comfortable when possible. You’re in good hands with any of them. The neighborhood is also great, with lots of lovely places to eat and enjoy away from the stress of the center. Sadly: There seems to be a large difference between room categories, the the basics being left behind the more premier options. We stayed in room 8 at the very top of the main building, overlooking the inner courtyards. Even though it’s not huge, and the bathroom is pretty outdated, it would have been perfectly ok if it wasn’t for the bed. While the linens and bedding quality are otherwise very good, the mattress was extraordinarily firm, even after a topper was added on request. Restful sleep became nearly impossible. For a property claiming luxury status, one would think quality sleep of guests is of 1st priority. Guess not here, at least not in this basic room. There is also significant construction surrounding the hotel, with the nearest project (as of May 2026) continuing until around autumn of 2028. During the day, you can often hear construction noise even while sitting in the gardens or by the pool. Yes, this is a large capital city so not much the hotel can do about it, but just be advised if you’re expecting to lounge to only birdsong by the pool or work in total peace. Basically – if you’re experienced with true 5* hotels, you will probably be disappointed. If you’re ok with a boutique-aiming place in a great location but otherwise currently underperforming and you don’t mind dropping the money, then you’ll be fine. The place has tremendous potential, if only they could pull their quality up.
