Good location as away from the busyness of the centre but close to tram and bus routes, shuttle to Belém and cheap taxis if you prefer that. Food is very good and interesting, cheap taxis to Doca de Santa Amaro for lots of restaurants. Pool area is a lovely place to relax.

That is why I feel compelled to write this review: because exceptional service deserves to be recognized. From the very first moment, the Pestana Palace Lisboa exceeded every expectation. Staying in a beautifully restored 19th-century palace, a true jewel of Lisbon and a national monument surrounded by magnificent gardens, is already a privilege. The grandeur of the architecture, the elegance of the interiors, the peaceful atmosphere and the seamless blend of history with modern comfort make this hotel unlike any other. It feels less like staying in a hotel and more like being welcomed into a living piece of Portuguese heritage. Prince & Marquise mode activated 🥂 Our heartfelt thanks go first to **Maria** at Reception. She was such a gem 💎 We arrived well before the official check-in time, hoping only to leave our luggage. Instead, Maria immediately arranged a room change so that we could rest straight away after our journey. Such kindness is rare, and her thoughtfulness, warmth and genuine care made us feel truly valued. She even welcomed us with a glass of sparkling wine, setting the tone for what would become an extraordinary stay. Maria is the perfect example of hospitality at its finest, and she deserves every bit of recognition. A special thank you also goes to **Paulo**, who welcomed us with remarkable elegance and professionalism. Before escorting us to our room, he took the time to give us a wonderful tour of the palace, sharing fascinating details about its history and facilities. He initially spoke to us in English, but as soon as he realised we were French, he effortlessly switched to French, a gesture we greatly appreciated. Discreet, attentive, refined and genuinely kind, Paulo embodies true luxury service. Every morning, **Elvira** and **Carolina** welcomed us with warm smiles and accompanied us to our breakfast table. Those small moments of personal attention make such a difference and instantly make guests feel at home. The breakfast itself deserves a standing ovation. It is simply one of the finest hotel breakfasts we have ever experienced. Every day brought subtle variations so that the experience never felt repetitive. The selection of freshly cut fruit was extraordinary: figs, cherries, mangoes, melon... you name it, they have it! Freshly squeezed orange juice, an omelette station where dishes are prepared before your eyes, an exceptional variety of breads and pastries, delicious homemade cakes, smoked salmon, local cheeses, traditional Portuguese charcuterie and countless other delicacies ensured there was truly something for everyone. Thank you to **Elisabete**, who served our coffee every morning with great kindness, and to **Ruben**, always impeccably dressed in his elegant white jacket. Throughout our stay, he spoke to us in French, remembered us each morning and always took the time to ask how we were and whether everything was perfect. It is these genuine human interactions that transform an excellent hotel into an unforgettable one. Our sincere thanks also go to **Rui** at Reception, who helped us find an exceptional restaurant in Lisbon's historic centre, allowing us to enjoy one of the highlights of our trip. The Housekeeping team also deserves enormous praise. The room was serviced twice a day with flawless attention to detail. The evening turndown service: with slippers carefully placed by the bed, curtains elegantly closed and the room thoughtfully prepared for the night,reflects the highest standards of luxury hospitality. The facilities are equally remarkable. Both the magnificent outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by lush gardens, and the beautiful indoor pool with its peaceful atmosphere provide perfect places to unwind after exploring Lisbon. Every corner of the property invites relaxation while preserving the timeless elegance of the palace. What impressed us most, however, was not only the beauty of this exceptional property but the people who bring it to life. Every single member of the team we encountered was warm, available, attentive and genuinely eager to make our stay memorable. Nothing ever felt forced or scripted, it came naturally from the heart. Having worked in luxury hospitality for many years, I know these professions demand immense commitment, patience and passion. Too often, guests remember only the buildings, while forgetting the extraordinary people behind them. Every member of the team we met deserves recognition for the excellence of their work. We spent a night at the Pestana Palace and overall had a lovely stay. The property itself is stunning — the palace architecture and grounds are truly beautiful, and it's easy to see why this hotel has such a great reputation. What really stood out was the staff: everyone we interacted with, from the valet to the front desk to general service, was warm, friendly, and attentive. It made a real difference to the experience. A couple of points that could be improved, offered as constructive feedback: the shower in our room sprayed water everywhere, making it a bit impractical — a fix here would elevate the in-room experience considerably. The breakfast, unfortunately, didn't quite feel like it matched a 5-star standard. We also tried the restaurant, which was disappointing given the price point — the chicken in particular lacked flavor and had a rubbery texture, which was surprising for a hotel of this caliber. We'd still recommend the Pestana Palace for its beauty and exceptional staff, but hope these details can be addressed to bring the dining and room experience up to the same level as the service and setting.
