Located only a couple of minutes walk from Bolhão metro station and only 15 minutes walk to the Ponte Luis 1 bridge the hotel location is perfectly located within central Porto. We had a twin room which came with a tv, ironing board and iron, en-suite with toiletries and a kettle with coffee and green tea (no milk). The room had black out curtains and was generally quiet. Beds were comfortable with both soft and hard pillows. It was a perfect base to explore Porto. Breakfast consists of scrambled egg, bacon, toast, fruit, cereal and pastries. Fruit juice, water and a coffee machine are available. Staff were pleasant, helpful and spoke good English. Bag storage is available after checkout. The bar is open 12:00-24:00 and has a limited range of drinks. There are also several restaurants nearby and a pedestrianised shopping street leading towards the Douro River.

“Standard stay at a HI Express”

This is a typical holiday inn express. Small but efficient rooms. Decent free breakfast. Staff is friendly but not overly helpful. My room was fine except that the carpet was stained and needed cleaning. Not horrible, just uninviting.

Good hotel in an amazing location. The rooms are clean, breakfast is good and some team members such as Daniel working the morning and Felipe working the night are magnificent.

Like my stay in Lisbon, this hotel is a somewhat uphill climb from the lower part of town or train/metro station. This makes it easy for you to walk down in the morning to see the sights, but you will have to walk up for a rest at the hotel. That saying, it's not a difficult climb, and it is located near to shops/markets/supermarkets. The room is adequately sized for the twin bed option, equipped with USB A ports for charging devices. The room has good heating and I liked that the window can be opened slightly to let in some air circulation. Shower gel and shampoo seems standard and the same throughout Portugal, which is nicely and mildly scented. I think in general the Holiday Inn Express chain of hotels in Portugal offers good value because breakfast is always included. A good spread of breads and rolls, with scrambled eggs and bacon/sausages. Staff is friendly and the hotel is away from the main street enough for it to offer a quiet respite for a good night's rest.
