Although the apartment was spotless and nice, I found the staff to be rude. They moved us half way though our stay (we were only staying 4 nights. She said that someone else wanted the room! We had booked in early June and this was the end of September. We had to repack and carry heavy suitcases up a winding narrow staircase to the attic. She also had not informed me directly, rather went through my roommate - the booking was in my name! Personally I would avoid if you were only there a few nights.

Negatives: I just want people to be aware that if you want a good nights sleep do not stay at Porto Downtown Lovers Suites Bombarda 451, We were in room 2D in early June 2024 and the walls and windows are paper thin. If people were standing outside you could hear what they were talking about. You heard every car go by and every car horn. If someone closed the door on the main floor you heard it, or if they are walking by the door you heard all of it. On another note the bathroom design did not have to be as small as it is, very cramped. The bathroom door was falling off. Also be aware that you need to pay for parking and also reserve it. When I reserved that was not noted on the booking website. The rating of 9.1 is too high for this hotel,, perhaps 7.8, and as far as getting a good nights sleep 5.0 Pros: Good location, Marcia at the front desk was very helpful, very secure

“A good base.”

I have to say for the price it’s really good. It’s clean , modern and comfortable , if you just want a base in a good location it’s perfect. Lovely guy made us welcome upon arrival and gave us a map which was really useful pointing out tourist places to visit and good restaurants to eat. The room… more

I have to say for the price it’s really good. It’s clean , modern and comfortable , if you just want a base in a good location it’s perfect. Lovely guy made us welcome upon arrival and gave us a map which was really useful pointing out tourist places to visit and good restaurants to eat. The room was ready early too which we did appreciate. Things to consider, we were on the 3rd floor , there are a lot of steps up to there and I’m grateful I had my husband to carry the case as I know I would’ve struggled . They only change the towels every 3 days which I didn’t like. I think it should be every two days minimum. We ran out of toilet roll but there was no staff around on the weekend to ask for more. And finally although I’d emailed in advance to ask what I could do with my suitcase on day of checkout as we were on a night flight home , they couldn’t help as no staff there all weekend. Fortunately we found a locker place in town or this would be a problem carrying suitcases whilst site seeing.
