We have just returned from a trip here. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Porto. The staff were all very lovely and friendly. The breakfasts were of outstanding quality and again staffed by lovely people. Our room was quiet and spacious - a ‘studio’ located opposite main hotel. It was cleaned daily to a high standard. We had a small problem with the air conditioning but this was fixed for us. One thing that was a bit strange was the kitchenette in the room, an oven and hob/sink. We had seen this was part of the studio rooms. We didn’t intend to use it ( besides the kettle and coffee machine) but it looked like no one ever had and no plates/cutlery or cooking utensils were supplied in the drawers. Maybe they are available on request but it was a bit of a mystery! Overall this is a really wonderful hotel.

We had the most wondeful stay at the Torel Palace, Everything was exactly right. The building is beautiful with large light and airy rooms elegantly appointed. The location is ideal within walking distance of all the sights and the funicular. Breakfast was extensive and very good indeed. Above all, every member of staff was friendly, incredibly helpful and generally amazing! I cannot recommend the hotel enough and we will be back. Thank you Torel Palace for a fabulous time.

We booked Torel Palace Porto expecting a five-star boutique experience in a historic palace setting, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. The property itself looks beautiful and full of character, and the concept is very appealing. However, upon arrival, we were assigned a ground-floor room facing a very busy main street, with constant pedestrian and vehicle traffic. For a Friday night stay, this was disappointing, especially considering the price, a little over €400 per night, including €65 per night for our small dog. Given how busy the street is, keeping the window open or even the shutters raised would have been practically impossible due to noise and lack of privacy. This would also have significantly reduced natural light in the room. For a five-star hotel at this price level, this was difficult to understand. In our opinion, rooms at ground level should ideally face an interior garden, courtyard, or pool area, or guests should be clearly informed in advance about their location. We expressed our concerns, and although initially we were told that no other rooms were available, the staff later offered a solution by transferring us to another hotel within the same group, which we appreciated. Since we did not ultimately stay at Torel Palace, my recommendation to future guests would be to confirm the exact room location in advance, especially if you expect a quiet atmosphere consistent with a luxury hotel. O have yo say that the Hotel we were sent yo was exquisite.
