“Disappointing for a 4-Star Hotel in the Prahova Valley – Wasted Potential”

As young travelers and frequent hotel guests, including in the Prahova Valley, we were quite disappointed with our stay. We’ve experienced far better 4-star hotels in the area. The Positives • Location: The hotel is set in a quiet area with beautiful views from all sides. • Cleanliness: The large bed, bed linen, and towels were clean — contrary to some negative reviews we had seen online. • Design: The lobby is modern and welcoming. • Breakfast: The breakfast was varied and offered a decent selection. Major Drawbacks Staff and Service • Slow Check-in & Lack of Professionalism: We arrived at 1:00 PM but didn’t receive our room until 5:30 PM, even though other guests who arrived later were checked in immediately. The explanation we got (“rooms are assigned the night before, and you’ll only get one if it happens to be ready”) is simply unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. • Attitude: The front desk staff seemed tired, overworked, and unhelpful. There was a complete lack of friendliness or effort to resolve our issue. At one point, the receptionist even said she was “quitting and going home.” A little empathy and professionalism would have gone a long way. Room (Premium?) and Facilities • “Premium” Room – Barely Worth 3 Stars: We paid for a premium 4-star room, but it didn’t meet expectations. The design was impractical — two windows on different sides, but only one had curtains. The other didn’t even have blinds, so sleeping past 6:50 AM was impossible due to the bright sunlight. • Poor Bathroom Design & Maintenance: The room had two separate bathrooms: one with a toilet and sink, and another with only a shower, located on the opposite side of the room. You literally have to cross the room to get from the toilet to the shower. The doors were swollen from water damage and smelled of mold. The soap holder was missing in the shower bathroom, while the towels and toiletries were placed in the other one. Other Issues (Hotel Condition, Restaurant & SPA) • Safety: On the second floor (at least), there are soft spots under the carpet — a genuine tripping hazard. • Restaurant (Lunch/Dinner): The food was bland and uninspired. We tried pasta, chicken, pork chop, a vegetarian platter, and pancakes — all tasteless. Several dishes and drinks listed on the menu were unavailable. • SPA Area – A Major Disappointment: We specifically chose this hotel for its Aqua/SPA facilities, but they were in poor condition. A strong mold smell greeted us due to the constantly wet floor. One of the two jacuzzis was broken, several sauna showers didn’t work, and the steam sauna was completely out of order. There were no refreshments available (no water or tea) for rehydration after using the sauna. Overall Impression The hotel is in urgent need of a deep cleaning and general refurbishment. It’s a real shame, because the place has great potential to become one of Predeal’s highlights — but the current management seems disinterested or unprepared. If you’re considering booking this hotel, we strongly recommend looking into other options nearby.

Nice room, large and comfy bed, good espresso machine and coffee, breakfast, etc. The only significant problem is that Predeal, including the area around the hotel, has wild bears scavenging on garbage at night and many stray dogs during the day.
