We were assigned to this hotel by our adoption agency and I am glad they did. The hotel is as nice as most any Marriot or Hilton we have stayed at in the USA. All of the front desk staff spoke English well enough we had no trouble communicating- even after our translator had left. they were very committed to our satisfaction. Breakfast was included with our room rate but we only got to take advantage of it one morning because our schedules dictated we leave the hotel before the buffet opened at 7:00AM. On those mornings, the hotel packed a 'sack breakfast' for us with a sandwich, fruit, yogurt, chocolate bar and water. Our room was on the 7th floor of the building. My only complaint about the location of the room was that they kept the floor dark when you got off the elevator. I think it bothered me more than my wife. The hotel has a restaurant on the 8th floor that was incredible! Waiters had white gloves, a live band string trio played while we ate, menus were in English, food tasted good and we still got out for only $34. wow! With that said, the hotel ALSO has a cafe on the 4th floor (that we never ate at) and also an outdoor cafe between the hotel and the street. The outdoor cafe supposedly has the same menu as the indoor cafe- and was priced about half of what the restaurant was. (Note- if eating here, you must try the pizza!) There is also a steak restaurant across the street that also has a english menu (but no english speaking waters we could find). The food quality and pricing was comparable to the hotel restaurant but without the upscale ambience. We never did find the indoor swimming pool, sauna or pool table.. but we only looked once and never asked so i don't fault the hotel. As for the location of the hotel, i couldn't be more pleased. There is a bank in the same building as the hotel that has an excellent exchange rate. We were in a very safe neighboorhood for walking. If walking around, head to the west down the WIDE brick side and go almost as far as you can (about 5~7 blocks roughly) and you'll find a small amusement park and several tanks from WWII (see pic). Keep going and you'll find the Kuban river and "Kisses Bridge" with all the locks (this was kinda neat.) *OR* Walk the other way (going east) and you'll pass a gold domed church, the legislative assembly building, the statue of Catherine the Great, and eventually reach Summer Park (formerly Gorky Park). If you hang a left at the legislative building and walk north, you'll find yourself of the south end of Krasnaya Street which was also a pleasant experience.

“The rate could be higher if i would not look at its reviews and rate”

It is not a bad hotel but i just expected for more. The stuff was nice and welcome, breakfast was good and the bad was comfortable. the only thing was that the shower itself was very small and that the dush didnt work well. even though it is my first time in Russia, i expected for a little bit more… more

Nothing special. Clean. Typical 3 stars (although they call themselves 4 stars). Not bad. I was given a room on the 4th floor. It appeared that just in front of my room there is a bar which is open till 3am - it was extremely noisy. I asked to change the room. They said there is no other room of such category available now. I insisted to either decrease the noise in my room to a sanitary norm or provide me with any other room of the same or higher category. At 1am they have given me the room on the 7th floor which was exactly the same, but very quiet and with great view from the balcony.
