A nice hotel in the city center with a great option like a sauna inside a room. You can enjoy infrared sauna, though it is not classical Russian banya. Unfortunately there isn’t tea kettle in apartments, but there is one in the first floor and there is also a micro oven if you d like to warm up some food. The rooms are spacious and from the window you can enjoy view to the cathedral of the transfiguration of the saviour.

Well located in downtown, near restaurants and some tourist attractions. Ten minutes walk to a supermarket. All rooms look to a lake or water stream. Very quiet. Easy check in and check out. Prices are excellent. Wifi works well. The rooms are spacious and have only the basic furniture including a TV screen with only Russian programming. It has a dining room only for breakfast which is simple but ok. The staff speaks Russian and nothing else. The bed was too soft. No water bottles in the room. .

“Location is everything” according to the real estate adage. I completely agree with that statement which applies to this hotel. It is located in very center of the town not far from the main intersection and the river bridge but at the same time it’s sufficiently distant from busy roads. Due to its advantageous location on the river bank, window view is absolutely fantastic: illuminated dome of the beautiful Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral beyond earthen ramparts on the other side of the river magically attracts eyes at night. When trees stay without leaves like at late autumn, the Cathedral is observed the best and its night view is breathtaking. We didn’t book a room in advance. Two hours prior to arriving I called the hotel directly to check if there was a chance to get a room. Upon arrival we easily found this place and left the car on a free hotel parking which can fit 5 cars I guess. I’m afraid the sixth car will block other cars and the driveway. I paid for our stay right on arrival. They say that bank cards are accepted but that day payment terminal did not work and I had to pay cash. I thought to myself that it was a kind of experience as I hadn’t paid cash for hotels for ages. Anyway, I think bank cards are accepted here. But take my advice: you might want to have sufficient amount of cash in your pocket or visit the nearest ATMs which are not far indeed. Our room was sufficiently spacious and warm, hot water radiator worked well. There was a double bed like we asked, a couple of chairs and a desk. It’s worth to remark that door in our room could be locked from the inside with the same door key. I found that a very positive aspect to feel safe in the room; some other hotels where I stayed didn’t even have latches on doors. TV was on a stand right in front of the bed. It was a regular 32” flat LED telly. But list of available channels surprised me a bit: on one hand there were famous channels like Russia 1, Russia 2, Russia Culture and Russia 24. But Channel One Russia was not among them. Euronews (in French) and France 24 (in English) existed but subscription to RT (Russia Today) was not in the list. Additionally to my regret it was nearly impossible to watch Euronews and NTV channels as image was corrupted due to poor quality of reception. Initially there was no electric kettle in the room. I had read about that in some reviews. That’s why I didn’t hesitate to ask for a kettle and it was provided immediately as though they had been waiting for that request. Unfortunately the kettle was far too old appliance and full of lime scale on its heating element and small chunks of lime scale on the bottom. I had to rinse out it intensively before I let it boil water for me. Additionally I asked the hotel front desk attendant for a regular teacup and a teabag, initially there were only two small glasses with thick base not suitable for drinking tea. Unfortunately teabags and sugar are not complimentary in this hotel. On the other hand a cup of tea with sugar costs only 20 Russian Roubles, less than half of a US dollar. Anyway, here is my first tip for this hotel: take your favorite tea or coffee with you. Bathroom was pretty average, however for 3* stars hotel I expected it to a bit better. For instance, hand shower holder was mounted high on the wall and wasn’t adjustable. Water in bathtub and sink didn’t drain sufficiently fast. Also some strange smoky odor haunted our bathroom. Honestly when we checked-in to the room we did not smell it, but after we returned from walking we smelled it very distinguishably. Fan running for a half of hour didn’t help; fortunately if the door to bathroom was shut we could sleep normally. Ceiling lights in the bathroom didn’t work from the first moments of our check-in to the room; probably light bulb burnt out. When I informed about that the front desk attendant, she reassured that they would replace the bulb next day. Since we stayed only for one night, I hope they’ve fixed the lighting by now. Thankfully mirror lights shone well and we almost didn’t notice absence of ceiling lights. Shampoo and shower gel were provided. They were just ordinary toiletries with scent of vanilla muffin, nothing special. But if you are picky for such details, you might want to take your toiletries. Treat this as another recommendation for this hotel. At the same time I didn’t have any complaints about bathroom towels – they were white and spotless. Unfortunately bed sheet and pillow cases were made of cheap and coarse fabric and didn’t contribute to good sleep. That was the worst impression on the hotel, all other issues can be overcome but not this one. I hope that the hotel’s management can read this and replace the bedding with better one. Like other hotel guests wrote their reviews breakfast was rather poor: there were tea and coffee, hard boiled eggs, muffins. We could make sandwiches and breakfast cereal with milk. Unfortunately real hot oatmeal porridge was absent. Cereal with cold milk can never substitute real hot porridge. Usually I’m a discerning traveler in terms of breakfasts in hotels but surprisingly such frugal first meal of the day was sufficient for me as I knew that there is a café Monpasan which offers breakfasts. Hotel personnel were very nice and gave several recommendations on where to have a dinner. In fact the mentioned café Monpasan was recommended by them. I never regretted about visiting that cafe, read my other review on that café. They also showed customer orientation when I realized that I forgot a battery charger for one of my gadgets. I asked a lady on front desk and she offered impressive bouquet of chargers for many types of jacks. Keep this in mind if you forgot your charger. However all existing electrical outlets were already taken by other electrical appliances like TV and lampstands. This is not something unique for this hotel, many other hotels have the same problem, but it would be good to have at least one free electrical outlet to plug guests’ devices. Wi-Fi existed in the hotel, it was free and worked well. Strangely laptop and Android gadget found the wireless network without difficulty but Apple iPad didn’t locate the required network. That’s why I had to go down stairs to the lobby where the wireless network was caught. Right after that my iPad started working everywhere in the hotel including our room. I was amazed even more when the next day we accidentally connected to the hotel’s wireless network while strolling on earthen ramparts on the other side of the river. Since my story was long, let me summarize and provide its short version: Advantages: • Great location • Free parking • Welcoming and helpful personnel • Magnificent view from window • Rooms can be locked from the inside Disadvantages: • Cheap bedding • Breakfast might look poor for demanding guests • Bathroom requires attention of technicians • Electric kettles must be replaced with new ones Despite of all small issues we found in this hotel, I tend to believe I will stay here again. Location is everything, I told that. And Pereslavl-Zalessky is a remarkable town to visit it again and again.
